With the "Design" convertibles you get an odd-coloured exterior and a shitty cloth interior as standard to match, though I've seen one in half-leather (it's a start!) but this may not be factory.
They had the M Tech II wheel too. That's all the differences I can remember.

odd-coloured exterior and a shitty cloth interior .....ZAYYAN wash your mouth out you naughty boy ......i have not yet met anyone who dislikes the neon blue(todate)you have a car that was fitted as a near end of line with such extras as 15inch bbs with 205/55/15 tyres.electric roof ...if it still works...sports seats with a blue striped interior m tec steering wheel and gear knob...electric green tinted windows and dont be slated because it has a super efficient 1.8 litre powerplant that is more than enough power untill you want to step upto a 2.5. but if you want to stir up a hornets nest your build papers say your car 318 design...MOTORSPORT EDITION....THERE I SAID IT motorsport edition not to be confused with the motorsport cabs but it does say MOTORSPORT on the papers. mine is the same i use it daily and have done 16k in the last 18 months without any problems ....good luck with your car we are quite rare
design cab and now 325 touring-

Well you have to admit the exterior is oddly-coloured. I'm still not sure whether I like the Neon Blue though - some days I think it's OK, some I don't.
I stand by my comment about cloth on a convertible - yes it does soak up the sweat from your arse crack a lot better but in a cab which is all about posing you need leather.
Are you sure all Design MOTORSPORT EDITION
Oh and I didn't slate the engine - it is perfectly adequate (certainly around town) and its lightness makes the car great for chucking into corners - it's just when (not if) it starts ticking that you begin to hate 'em

i would say they are the best colour out of most of the bmw e30s
i dont understand why they didnt but back headrests in them aswel
mine has a manual roof which is better no faults like the electric ones i seen alot of them that play up or parts break
il put some pics up off mine on here in a bit

when i had some trimming done on mine at b trim in enfield they told me of a local bmw main dealer who apparently bought the last 10 or so design cabs and had them trimmed in half leather so if your bmw history shows a north london dealer you may have one of these .....on the topic of the electric hood all the design cabs i have seen have had them fitted but as they go wrong i know they soon get scrapped unless it was purely a optional extra at extra cost ...mine does not have abs or a adjustable steering column as some seem to have

yeh i think this may be one of them design cabs
about the hoods i think they were optional as mine has all the manual things even the sticker in the driver sun visor
the back cover latch on the left side in the rear so it came as a manual so it wouldnt have any of the problems that the electric ones have
