Bit of a public sulk this is really - My Sport was intended to be roadworthy for the E30 Aces Cafe meet next month, but time is running out and with me only being able to work on the car on the weekends, things are looking Uber-bleak!

The problem really stems from the fact that almost all E30 parts are now back-order from Germany which means im waiting a week for my parts to arrive and then having to wait another week when my next order comes in.

Today i SHOULD have.......

Changed all the bushes in the prop - nuts didnt come, so I cant put that back together.

Changed the wiring loom to one my dads been working on re-wrapping for me - beautiful job, but the fuse boxes are different, so it wont mount properly - does anyone KNOW how to get the pins/connectors out of the connections in the fuse box please? I got a few out of a practice fuse box, but it was more luck than skill. Is there a proper tool? HELP PLEASE!

Diff bolts didnt come, so couldnt put that up, which also meant that I cant put the prop tunnel shields up, which, in turn meant that I couldnt put the back parts of my exhaust on.

With all this stressing out over parts, I swore and faffed my way through the time it would have taken me to rebuild my pedal assembly,.

Another part that failed to turn up from germany is the heater matrix gaskets. Those not turning up means that I cant put the dash back in.

Theres a LOT of work i can do on that car if i could just get a dozen or so, different parts from germany without having to fuk about witing a week everytime i order something.

Whinge over.

Feel slightly better, thank you all.

Ive got 3 weekends to make this car roadworthy mate - its not gonna happen! its probably gonna take BMW Munich 3 weeks to pull their fingers out of their world cup arses and realise that some people neeed parts for their cars and arent remotely interested in football. bastards!

Im at the point now where im throwing money at the car again - not the way i wanted to do it, but its at the stage now where money is the only thing that will make that car go!

If anyone has any genuine unused BMW parts that they arent planning on using, let me know - i may need some (exchange for beer/money/sexual favours etc - delete as appropriate) lol

chin up scott mate, we all know that your more than capable of finishing that sport off to the excellent standard she deserves, if things are out of your control then theres not alot you can do other than get all stressed out, and that ain't gonna do anyone any good, i understnad where your coming from by having it finished by aces, but don't worry, (unless you had a bet riding on when it was finished, then get worried...)

good luck mate and if theres anything i can help with give me a shout :thumb:

I've never had to wait more than three days for an E30 part, however obscure it may be, and most parts have arrived next day.
All facelift E30 fuseboxes are the same fitting, so don't understand what the problem is there.
RS Components can supply a pin removal tool.

Guys, Scott means he only gets home to West Wales every weekend, hence him having to wait a week to collect the parts.

Back order parts will normally take 3 days, Ian, you probably get yours quicker because all parts go through Bracknell, so if you're local there consider yourself lucky!

Yes there is. Granted these are the Snap On version (and priced accordingly) but maybe Halfords will have something similar

* Check it will do BMW terminals first

Regarding the rebuild issues. Yes its a pain in the arse, but once its all finished and you go for that first drive. I'm sure you wont give a monkeys 8) The thing with old cars is parts availiability. My suggestion is to try and fit parts from newer cars if you can. Nuts and bolts should be fairly similar whether its a a E30 or E39 5 series. :?

I use a dentists tool pick  about 2mm blade
It's just the right size to fit down the top of the terminals in the fuse box, you have to remove the black plastic strip along each edge of the fuses first. It clips in from the bottom and has fixings about every inch along the top, you just need to unhook them and push it down.
I gave up trying to buy that snapon tool :-x

I could have sworn there was one in St Albans back when I used to live in Harpenden.
