Well,
I'm looking into a misfire problem on my 1986 325, and need to check the fuel pump / DME relays, but the Haynes manual, and photos in other threads on here have left me stumped. I can only find relays in the back corners of the engine bay, the usual ones in the fuse box and one in the opposite corner on its own with a fuse.
The three next to the suspension turret aren't there. Where (or which) are the DME/fuel pump relays likely to be ?
Cheers in advance.......
Where are my relays ??

not sure if the 6 cylinders are the same, but the 4 cylinder E30's DME and fuel pump relays are located underneath a black panel mounted on the bulkhead, about 2 inches above the rear of the engine
i believe the DME relay is the orange one and the white one is the fuel pump. if you have ABS, then the relay for this will be in there as well
hope this helps mate...

I got 'em !
Is it true that the relays can't be checked ? Don't really want to fork out for new ones if they're not causing the problem...
Also, can anyone confirm my theory that if the problem (an intermitent lack of power) only happens every so often and not every time the car is driven, it's more likely to be electrical ??? or should I be looking at things like vacuum leaks and fuel pressure as well ?

its just what happened to my 318 if it is for a brief test ie to get you home the fog light relay will work but only as a last resort it has the same terminals but has something missing ...but will help in an emergency ...when mine played up the prongs were blue showing that it had been overheating nearest the relay where they disapear inside the plastic block

Don't have to fit new ones. Scrappy ones will do.
One of the good things about E30s is that there aren't many parts where any you find on a scrapper are likely to be faulty as well
