Well its finally happened, the mercury has reached silly levels and its only June, AND ... July and August will be hotter!! You lot in UK are sooooooo lucky to be able to drive in summer, we have to wait for the winter for the next cabby season.    and just had it all painted   and the tech2 kit

 and theres me complaining its at twenty odd here! (its at 20 degrees now and its quarter to eight in the evening)

surely that isnt normal? I know 40-42 degrees isnt unheard of but 50???

surely anything over 37 raises blood temperature and makes for some very ill people about!

thats not even really hot yet, it is still dry and a bit windy. 50 - 55C is normal but only in direct sunlight from June till end Sept, actual air temp is more like 45 - 47C, but on days where the humidity is 80-90% and the air temp is 45-47 then the apparant temp is 50-55!!! and yes i have A/C and no it makes little difference with roof down. As for the eveninigs it may drop down down to 35-39 but as the air temp drops the relative humidity increases and it is worse then a sauna on humid days, your clothes will be soaked in a matter of minutes!!

so all this boils (if you'll pardon the pun) down to no more roof down.

but not all bad, i actually hate hot days in uk more then here, as here everywhere has A/C i.e house, shops, office, cars etc etc, in uk when its hot outside its hot everywhere!!

scientific bit!!!!
not really true it is the temperature of the water in the air that influences the human bodys ability to keep cool. if the moisture in the air is over 37C then sweatting cannot cool you so you over heat. even with air temps of 50C the moisture in the air will be 30-35C, only once have i seen it above that at that point we legally have to stop work and go indoors (how do i know??!!, we joint high voltage power cables so we have to monitor the jointing atmospheric conditions so we do monitor them when on site!!)

50 is way too hot, and it makes driving around miserable as well. You run out of the house, open the car and then suffer until the air-con kicks in! On top of that, there's nowhere to drive to in Bahrain, especially over that bridge!
You'd swap with us in 15 and overcast uk (typically) any day, surely? 8)

Trust me guys he's not lying, bahrain and most the other arab countries are known to hit those temps, especially in built up areas with fumes and etc.

Yemen is super hot at this time of year and it carries on threw july and august, the work days are short, so you wont see anyone out around midday till about 4. Then they go to work, or they work in the morning from 6ish to 11.

short working day??? :? we wish, 7-6 with hour for lunch (and three hours for zone winkeye ) both me and the lads who are in the sun all day for sod all money, at least i am fairly well compensated, some asians here get less a month than a good night out! hence why places like this (dubai)can brag about their development its all down to asian (practiacally) slave labour but thats another discussion :x

temp forcasts are always on the low side especially BBC, but to be fair measuring temp in direct sunlight is easy to get 50, but in a cab you are in direct sunlight so imo it counts!!! then take into consideration the temp of the buildings and asphalt, plus those badly maintained smoking diesel trucks at traffic lights :( actual air temp is more like 40-47 so fairly cool!! however in car temps if its parked can reach well about 60-65C, enough to melt tape cassettes and CD cases left on the dashboard!!

i will wait for the 54C days and repost it should happen in a couple of weeks!!

AND i have a corporate track day this afternoon in Caterhams, mmmm 50C and open top sports cars on a F1 track, full suited and helmet
only solution is helmet (and boxers) in the freezer for about 5mins relief!

Z3I, sounds like you have been over here, whereabouts?

pfft you big wuss winkeye

I've driven through Al Aziziyah in an Opel Ascona with no air-con, so I think you've got it easy!

Just in case you English-lubbers don't know, this is where the hottest ever temperature was recorded - I admit I was not there in 1922 when the temperature was 136F (58C) NOT in direct sunlight, but it was pleasantly warm when we drove though....

Met (BBC) always measure temperature in the shade, hence why its a lot lower.

My G/F thinks 25c is cool, then 30 is warm and 35-45 is hot. But then she is from Sudan (Africa - East Sahara Desert..)...

been to Al Azziziya (the BAE compound i assume you mean) quite a few times, and yep i was here in 92, although i argue 97 was the hottest, and i spend most of my time outside on site. (three days of 50-55C (shade) and near on 95% humidity, that was a bad few days, next time you are in a sauna have a look at the guages, it will only be about 45C and 75-85% humidity, unless your a crazy scandanavian!!)

and if you dont belive my toyota then you should al belive my BMW, taken at 09:30 on thursday morning as i took it to the stealers for a replacement window washer pump. 09:30 for those interested is pleasently cool!!

and all temps irregardless of which met office does it are measured in the shade to get rid of solar radiated heat.

But to put averyone at ease i did try to get out in the cabby on Firday for an hour, but the battery was flat and it was too hot to jump start it, so back to my airconditioned sofa it was
