to do a swap you can use the 320i gearbox and diff, but this means you will get more accelaration and less top end, which i like! you could do this until you get a gearbox and diff sorted or keep it like it if you wish . the only thing you have to do is get the oil cooler, this connects to where the oil filter is on the engine so all the gubbins should be there! cooling system is all the same,so you can use your old cooling system. obviously need to change the engine loom and ecu,but this is easy as the loom is seperate from the main loom. hope this helps

hello mate i did thid conversion on my 320i convertible it is easy i have a complete setup if you are interested i will sell the whole lot for £400
that include
engine early nice high compression lump ( Actually makes the 171bhp stated)
gearbox
ecu(chipped )
Afm with cone filter ( Pipercross

and all assoited bits dodgy spelling.

You also need 325i struts as the 320i ones are smaller in diameter

To be honest, all you need is a 325i engine with it's loom, g/box + prop.
The 2.5 will slip in easily and plug straight into the car loom, connect up the prop and away you go - after the fact and when £Â£ is a better state then change the front struts + brake set up.

Make sure you buy a 2.5 engine with a compatable loom though ie there was 2 types - early + late. The early ones have a small diog port next to the fuel presure regulator and the late ones have a bigger one

Hope this helps mate.

Neil.

you have to swop the early engines front pulley over for the late, and mount the VR sesor on the front cover, a post faclift Motronic 320 with plastic bumpers will have these parts already fitted.

a chrome bumper 320 will be a mission to swop over unless you are experienced with BMW wiring diagrams

The bare minimum you need to do to convert a facelft 320 to 325 is fit a 325 engine complete with inlet system and change the chip in the ECU.
The rest mentioned may be desirable, or even easier, buit is optional.
