hi everyone. :D
we're hayley and claire and we're new to this site and new owners of a 1988 BMW 316i.
only thing is the guy we bought it off decided that instead of buying lowering springs to lower the car he took a hacksaw to the springs so we can't get anywhere in the damn thing without scrapeing the whole bottom of the car. he also put stupidly huge alloys on that rub. :-x
so we're now basically asking if anyone knows of somewhere we can get some nice 15in alloys from (that fit!!) and where we can get some springs from for our car - lowering ones or original BMW (preferred) ones.
it's a beautiful car and we really don't want it to stay it the state it's in.
the seats are knackred but we've already got some bucket style seats coming. 8)
hope to hear from you all very soon.

Welcome to the zone... I hope you're prepared for the onslaught of the zone flirts!

Your best bet for finding bits is to put a post up in the wanted section... If you say where abouts you are too, it'll help :thumb:

Oh, & I'll just say this because I know someone else will otherwise... :ttiwwp:

Welcome to the Zone.

There are lots of 15" alloys about - the 15" BBS that are found on a lot of E30s are a nice cheap way of getting back some handling/ride quality and they look good too.

On a 316i you don't really want standard springs I don't think, as they're just too damn high. A set of 40mm lowering springs would probably be your best bet and can be had for about £100 new.

Get some pics up :thumb:

Hi and welcome,

A set of Lowering springs which will still keep the car at a nice practical height will set you back around £105. They are made by H&R and these have been fitted to a large number of E30's on here with very good results.

Shame on the guy who cut the springs!

Welcome to the zone mate,

I quite like the look of those alloys - you could try changing the suspension 1st then seee how it feels, if its still no good then sell the wheels and get some 15's or 16's

Hello! and Welcome to the zone..

I had a 316i that used to scrap and bounce all over the place, even when it was on standard springs and 15" BBS... I put some lowering springs on it and it actually helped a bit-odly.

I suspect it may be worth changing the shocks as well while your there, as it doesn't look stupidly low. Does it feel like it bounce's around? Do you never feel totally in control?

Try Springs and Shocks, and the wheels may end up being OK, unless you just don't like the style of them.

Its good to get the suspension top mounts (front esp, but also rear) replace while your doing all that as well.

will look for some shocks asap.
we don't seem like we're out of control of the car until we hit 60mph, then the car has her own ideas and she chucks us all over the shop, but my(hayley's) hubby (claire still available though!)
thinks that could be balencing problems , as theres no weights on the wheels.
Zayyan (mharoon1951) yep it's us... how did you figure us out??? are we that obvious???
more pics are coming soon just need batteries for the camera!!! of us? ....well you'll have to be good little boys!!!........hehe :o
