Ok, Marc and I on the way home on the A1M,kicked off from Sterling corner and went for it, was doing really well and couldn't see Marc in my blind spot although he was next to me and then suddenly I panicked when looked at my speedo
138mph (on speedo). Very proud of myself, my fastest yet to come lol !!!!

145mph reading on the way back from the ring in my old 325i was actually about 133mph on GPS
Cheers,

I could of carried on as she had more in her but I got scared lol
Malc I suppose there isn't much point in putting a turbo on then is there? lol
And no you're right about Marc not posting yet as we can't both be logged on from the same computer.
Marc :- " Im well happy with her, just wish she would keep going that bit more.. lol.. need to get her back on the track..

Doing high speeds like that always frightens me in the sense that :
1) speed camera or cop car somewhere
2) Someone will pull out of know where
I've done 170 indicated in my M5 for a few seconds - That was a buzz!

Sara:- Thanks guys but luckily there are no speed cameras on that part of the A1M and Marc and I know that bit of road like the back of our hands. Yes there was a risk of the radics catching us but we kept an eye out for un-marked police cars, there are only a certain amount of makes of unmarked police cars in our area so yes we were lucky but you know what? I DON'T CARE I LOVED IT LOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOL. Just get me back on the track he he

the gearing on a late sport 3.91 will only allow u to do 135mph. I did it in my old sport in 5th and 6000 rpm! on the M40 once
if u had a 3.64 diff u can go faster!

Well I had a 3.64 LSD in my 325i and it just wouldn't go more than indicated 145mph (133mph on GPS as I said above) at that point aerodynamics took over. Ran it flat out for a long time too trying to make up time and the motorways were empty so I know it wouldn't do more than that. Seem to remember it still had plenty of revs to spare, though this was with a zone wild chip so revved higher anyway
Suppose downhill with a tail wind it'd have done a bit quicker though

you cant beat the buzz of a high speed run
although some on the zone will slate you for it
.i had 162 out of my cossie engine when it was fitted to my celica (gps reading) but i cant get the car above 130 with the same engine fitted to my e30,must be the diff and having the aerodynamics of a house.this was on private groung of course

you can tell me to get my handbag, but M5Pilot shows he is wise beyond his years...
someone pulled out on my brother last month; only doing 60 odd; nowhere for my brother to go (country lane); both cars written off in a big way; other driver in hospital
Brother walked away from his E46 - you wouldn't have walked away from an E30 at 60 mph in an accident like that.
I also hope you have very good tyres - otherwise it's only a matter of time before one goes (like some other Zoner had last month)
Enjoy yourselves (I do), but give yourselves a chance......

Thanks for the advice guys and I understand what you are saying and believe I wouldn't be doing stupid speeds on a country lane of all places I would only do it if I had enough room and no one on the road like the motorway late at night.
Just wanna get back on the track.

I, as much as anyone, hate the people that preach on forums about being safe and sticking to speed limits and how you'll die if you don't etc etc. We all do it, and in the majority of instances, it's safe.
However, you have to remember that a lot of our cars will be at least 15 years old. In terms of both design and safety nowadays, they're not fantastic. The point made about the tyres is also a good one. It's not easy to control a blow-out at 140mph.
All it takes is one random event at that speed, like a fox running out or a blow-out or a pothole etc never mind another car, and you're buggered.
Have fun, but keep it real
