need to wire my cig lighter in but have no wires to go from have been told to use the white/purple this currently runs to a 4 socket thing that is not plugged into another socket, just hangs free.
do i cut this wire and join a wire from here to the lighter?
how to wire this??

Is this the i-pod thing? If so, forget the cigarette lighter, as it is permanently live. The purple/white wire is only live with the ignition switch turned away from the off position.
If the four pin plug is not connected, it plugs into the accesories socket at the back of the glovebox.
If you just want to get the cigarette lighter working, it is fed by a red/yellow wire from fuse 28, which goes through a two pin connector above the glovebox, then through the heater loom, and finally comes out under the console and plugs onto the lighter. Proble fault is either that the fuse is blown, or the wire has fallen off the bottom of the lighter.
