It seems anything between about £200 and £1300.

Condition, mileage, history, age (i.e. pre- or post-facelift), spec etc are all pretty important...

Well I bought a 1991 318i 2dr black, FSH and 139k, for £825. Itsa got alloys, no rust and in generally good condition. I have been looking for a while, and you need to spend at lest £700 to get a decent one.

A crap one will be about 100 quid, but will cost you 1k in garage work over the next few years. I got one in almost mint condition for 750, i dont think that anything under 700 in general is a good investment (unless its a crap one overpriced!).

I have learnt to spend the money in the origional car, not geta shi*ter and spend loads on it

Yeah, i second that. You are way better to spend more money on the original car than spend money fixing a banger.
