Today I removed my passenger seat and glovebox so I could get an idea of where the water in my passenger footwell is coming from. When I peeled back the carpet I found that the floor of the car was sound so I removed the black plastic panel that sits up behind the glovebox and hides the wires.
I poured a jug of water down below the windscreen into the vents.
I noticed a small trickle of water drip down from the passenger side corner of the footwell. The water appears to be leaking about 20cms over from where the bonnet release cable exits the cabin into the engine bay. There is a small black 'foambacked flap' which is soaking underneath but I cant see into it or past it as there are a lot of wires around it.
I want to remove the fusebox as I think it could possibly be from behind it somwhere.
Is this a common place for a water leak and how do i remove the fusebox to one side to enable me to look at the back of the bay?
Water leak behind fuse box?

i have water on the same side, some one told me of the rubber elephant, a small rubber trunking, to the right of the battery, almost upper central on the bulkhead
this blocks over time and needs cleanin to let water floww from the scuttles, also blockd scuttles can start leaks somehow
i had the seat out and the carpet up the other day and found a little ring plug in the floor which was open directly floor to carpet, so i dealt with that too,
waited almos 2 months before i got down to looking at it

I know about that 'elephant trunk', I checked that the other week to find it stuffed to the throat with gunk, I cleaned it out and poured water down the scuttle panel, once i see the water run clear I knew it wasnt blocked anymore.
The small trickle of water coming down from where im talking about doesnt seem to tie in with the huge amount of water in my footwell, which brings me to that plug you are talking about. Are you talking about the grey plastic plug that is on the actual floor of the car?
The water in my footwell seems to be slightly suddy which makes me think it might have been from when i got the car washed underneath a few weeks ago. There are no holes in my floor so I was thinking that those plugs(2 or 3 on passenger side i think) on the floor of the car could be letting a bit of water get it?

So how do i remove the fuse box, i removed the 8mm bolt from between the fuse box and the edge of the bay but its still held tight. I dont want to go swinging on it.
