When ive got the key at position 1 i can set the time, date and limiter and everything generally functions ok including the ind stalk but when i start the car the fookin things totally functionless no buttons or the stalk will work i just get the time frozen at whatever time it was set at and the display distorts a touch. When i turn the car off and on again everythings gone and it needs set again oh and the temp shows -30 and flashes eratically. Is it unclebucked????

This probably doesn't help much but my OBC seems to crash every few days when it forgets everything. I've found that if I don't set the time it works fine.
Not scientific I know but it might be worth a try without setting the time...

Getca a voltmeter across the battery terminals with the engine running.

Mine will go spasticated if I change the settings while the engine is running.
All other times it's fine.

Some of the symptoms you describe have sometimes been caused by connection problems for signal feeds. E.g. dry joints, oxidised connectors caused by damp and/or condensation. Even earth joints sometimes.
Have you checked all feeds for continuity?
I haven't had one of these apart yet so can't comment on anything internal but I would like to have look inside one. All on here are probably aware of the symptoms which arise from the two rechargeable batteries going u/s, which power the dashboard clocks and service lights.
But with the ignition switch position in the equation, it sounds like it could be a feed problem. Does all the electrics work on the car with engine not running but ignition on?
