my engine oil light is staying on on my check control panel, however the oil level is ok, is this a common fault and can anyone tell me the easiest way to sort it?
If it's a case of changing the sensor, where is this positioned and does neone have a part number?
Thanks in advance

Sensor is in the sump below the altenator, held in place by two nuts and sealed with an O ring. It's hole is just about at the normal oil level, so you may or may not get oil coming out when you remove it.
Over time, sludge builds up inside the cannister and can make the float stick. Cure for this is to flush it several times with petrol.
IIRC, the only time I have had a case of the light staying on permanently, it turned out to be a faulty panel in the roof. Probably a diode, but it just got binned and replaced.

Mine has just come on as well - after I disconnected the battery (working on clocks). Reconnected battery and light was on. Drove it to work and back yesterday, and by the time I got home I noticed it was out.
Disconnected battery to swap new speedo last night - lo and behold, oil check warning light on test drive.
Coincidence? Or dodgy connection?
