driving normal.

Thanks Blackcab and Swindy for your support.

Being from a classic cars background, I tend to buy on condition (rather than spec or badge) - well, as long as it's a 6-pot! As several members already said in this thread, it's much easier to find an unmolested 320i than the bigger engined variant. But if a 325i in comparable condition came along at a fair price, you betcha I'll be all over it! :mrgreen:

Dare I say it, I like my E30s homely (largely factory original - don't mind upgraded/lowered suspension and BBS alloys but not too sure about other mods). Hope I don't get flamed for saying that! :oops:

Chrome bumper cars have more character in my view - but your mileage may differ from mine. Frankly, I llike them both. :D

Cheers.

I picked up a 320i six months ago, for Ԛ£500. It was in very tidy condition, and had covered a genuine 62'000 miles, some rear arch rust though. Only one drawback its an auto.

In the past I have had 16 carb coupe and a 316i Touring. Its just my personal opinion, but I would not buy a 4 cylinder again.
The noise and smoothness give the E30 something else.

Having said all that I have not driven a 318is and my previous two were still very very good.
The one major minus point for the 6-cyl is the fuel consumption, I reckon I get about 20-22mpg, and thats taking it easy. Off course the autobox (non-switchable) does not help....but for me its worth it.

Hope you succeed in the finding the car that suits YOU !!.

I feel that my first post needs to be explained

Any reason why not a 325i?{This is relevent when somebody is thinking of buying a 320i as there are a number of zone members who are changing their engines from a 320i to a 325i, it may well be cheaper in the long run to spend the extra on a 325 if you ever think you may want more power. It does not mean that the 320 is a bad car and if you don't want the extra power fair enough, not all of us do} Its been said many times {This does not mean that this is my opion, just rewritting what has been said on previous occasions} that the MPG is about the same, but the 325i is far quicker. Don't think insurance is that much more either.

There are a few good 320i around because of the reason above, they will never be the classic of the range{how can you argue that a 320 will ever have the spotlight when there are cars like the m3, sport,is etc etc in thte range? Again it doesn't mean that it is a bad car, if it was then it would have never sold and we wouldn't be having this conversation......}
enough i think... :x :x :x :x :x :x :x :x
