hi guys my head went on my 325i e30 convertible so i picked one up on ebay for 80 quid with inlet manifold, injectors and throttle body which i thought was a bargain. got it pressure tested and all is good no cracks!! :D

the prob is that they say that the where the cams slides into the guides are not smooth and have got wear on (grooves) and they reckon i should not put the head on my car. they have quoted 250 quid to fix the prob with no warranty after that. :(

do you think i should just put the head on my car and hope for the best?

i spoke to the bloke who i brought it off and he says its from a sport that had done 80,000 miles and he said the cams did not make any noise and he said that he will give me a full refund if i dont want it.

what shall i do?

cheers jamie

Do you mean the cam bearing journals in the head ?

If they're worn and scored I'd get my money back, no point fitting a suspect head.

Mileage doesn't really matter with these heads, good regular maintenance is important. Lack of oil changes or poor quality oil is a kiss of death to M20 heads as the oil circulation isn't very good anyway.

Cheers,

Depends how bad the wear is. Maybe you ought to get a second opinion.
