How many do you want? There should be a green/white from fuse 10 (ignition live), a purple/green from fuse 6 (ignition switch acessories position live), and a red/green or red from fuse 21 (always live).
The green/purple is the correct one for the map light, if that's what you're up to.

Yep u got O'B'1 using the force again I see! - Frustrating though... I checked the bulbs on the mirror with a 9 volt battery and they worked. I kept getting changing readings on the meter - thats way i asked the question - it should have been straight forward... had to leave it.The green/purple is the correct one for the map light, if that's what you're up to.
On the plus side - you given me help for tomorrow! and i now have an electric aerial working... Oh one thing i have the opportunity to buy a complete electric window kit - wat do i need to look out for so i dont get caught out...??

Complete electric window kit? You mean fronts? rears? or both?
Make sure they are the OE stuff, not the dealer retrofit, which are rubbish.
Been stripping a 2 door with manual windows today. It had the wiring looms in the doors for electric windows, but the car loom to the door pillar sockets wasn't fitted.

I met a dude breaking a four door, he said he'll sell me everthing i need to set up 4 electric windows. Now - you probably know by now im keen but when it comes to the facts of what is neccessary i.e. looms, relays, - the intricate bits - i dont have a good enough knowlege to know what im getting or what i should have.
After checking the archive (see im learning!) it also said to watch out for the mechanisim in the door - s shape or wire?? I cant afford to change the glass. So if its gona be a head fuk to do. It may not be worth it. I think i can do it myseld so lond as i have all the pieces!
I guess i could settle for the front 2 only...

The change from the S type to the scissor type manual mechanism occured sometime in 1988. I have two '88 E30s, and they have one of each.
If you have manual fronts, you probably won't have the loom in the car.
Check your doors before you buy to see if the door looms are there. Should be a round rubber two pin socket strapped to the loom about half way alomg the bottom of the door.
You will need the loom from the donor car for the cetral locking and windows, including the sockets in the door pillars.
This loom isn't entirely seperate from the main car body loom. IIRC, there are about three wires from the drivers door pillar socket that you will have to cut and splice to your own loom.

Cheers O'B'1 - hes asking for 90 including all wiring and console? watcha think - from what you just said it sounds like a doable challenge so long as i take my time and get all i can from the geeza - i dont have that money to waste. It is a mod i've had my eye on for a while though.

See if you can get the door cards in the price, or you will have winder holes to deal with. Don't forget the little relay and loom at the back of the glovebox, and the double pole front doorswitches.
