i have finally got my car running again.

however as it warms up, quite a bit of light grey smoke comes from near the drivers side by the gearbox/exhaust manifold region..

also have no door cards on atm,, and the rear passenger side when rolling in or oiut of gear makes on heck of a whine!

also the car doesnt drive like it used to, not as smooth anymore, seems to be more jumpy,

any ideas??

consider: front end minor damage, engine was moved forward, now moved back, (not all the way, but enough to clear cowling, and gear linkages fine.)

thanks :)

just to add,,,,

when still,, no matter how warmed up it gets, it will not smoke???

do clutches/gearboxes smoke up?? cos then this must be the problem while in gear and warm it will smoke????

could it be oil leaking from the rear of the gearbox at the prop and burning up on your exhaust causing the smoke?

no worries fellas.. if it helps...

its coming either from the highest nut where the exhaust manifold joins the rest of the system,,, or oil going on top of it...

but tbh it really looks like its coming from the manifold.. either way i dont think its dangerous to drive is it??

If the shunt has moved your engine there is the distinct possibility that one or more of your exhaust joints is no longer tight, ie. manifold or down pipe. I'd look at the manifold first.

took it for a spin, and i think its comfirmed what stuart told me earlier, and what uve said now chris.

seems to be seeping out from the highest bolt/nut but why is this only happening when cars been moving??

wat about the rear whine?? subframe bushes? (they need doing since last MOT i remember the guy sying...)

The subframe bushes won't be causing a whine. I'd imagine it'd be somewhere in the driveline considering the shunt.

Might just be a wheel bearing as well.

Ali, did you take the prop apart/split it? if so, did you line the two dots up on the prop, so that i t remains balanced? coz that would cause a whine...

when i come down, i'll take your car for a spin, coz its much easier for me to diagnose!

call me today or tomorrow and i'll try and get down pal
