number plates

Ive sold my private plate and need to replace it with my new number. I have the german style surrounds that the plate sits in (little teeth hold it in place and has writing and logo across the bottom), How do i get my old plate out of this and my new one into it with out damaging the paint of bumper. Are they stuck on or screwed on or do i simply prize it out of the teeth?

There is a slot at the bottom in the corner put a screw driver in it and prize the bottom strip off then remove the plate.
