I have just read that the con rod bolts need replacing when you replace the bearings.
I am doing both big end and mail bearings, do i need new bolts for both?
are these both only available from bmw?

Conrod bearings are stretch bolts and need to be replaced, the main bearing cap bolts aren't so I wouldn't bother changing them.

BMW bolts are dirt cheap so i'd buy genuine.

The new bolts are torx head instead of bi-hex like the originals.

I'd do 'em all, and indeed did do 'em all when I rebuilt mine.

A full set of main bearing bolts is about £12 from the dealers, and a full set of big end bolts stands you in at about £36 iirc :)
