I was wondering if anyone has used or has heard of http://www.vehiclelink.co.uk/index.asp? I just had a phone call from them, telling me they got a number of people who might want to buy my car - and that he was sure it would go for the full asking price!

It kind of makes sense, matching people to the cars they want to buy, but he wanted £89.99 from me to guarantee my car is of the condition I said it is. I said there was no way I'd be giving any money over right now on the phone but would read through their website and make a decision later...what's your opinion of the service they offer? That £89.99 is a one-off fee and would be worth it if they did send me a bunch of people to view my car and I got the full asking price?

Sorry if this is in the wrong section, just wanted a quick response :)

hi there, had a similar problem when i advertised my bike in bike trader. As others have said, dont part with any money. they rang me nearly every day for about 2 weeks telling me that they had heaps of willing buyers for it. now why would someone say that when they hadnt even seen it? hope this helps. Guy.

Totally a con.

I get it all the time when i advertised my car in the autotrader.

I say to them prove to me you have buyers there waiting to buy my car and i will gladly give you the money if not stop wasting my time. They normally go into a fluster and try to take you away from the fact that you want them to prove the fact they have buyers waiting.

They crap themselves and cannot in the end i had this persons so called manager on the phone to me, I just told him has he ever herd of watchdog firms like this are always on there and do they think im stupid. All you get back is i can assure you we have not been on watchdog lol idiots play them along but never pay for the service.

All you have to think is if this type of service exists where are they advertising for these people to get intouch and they will source a vehicle of your choice for you? I dont see any ads for this type of service do you?

they keep ringing me saying from london telling me
they have buyers in my area interested in my car.
now i live in southern ireland in cork!

the line is that because they offer finance aswell as
find cars for people. potential buyers in their flock
to their door. so you'd be 'mad' not to sign up.

now i dont' know many irish people who would go to
a car finding company in london to find a car. most
would just pick up the auto trader! (no irish jokes please!)

so its defo a con. i have their phone number saved in my
phone for when they ring so i can 'play' with them. as far
as i can see their only overhead is the price of the phone
call, so the longer you can keep them on the phone the
more it costs them so maybe it might stop them doing it.

i got 5 mins 21 seconds out of them one time pretending
to be a complete idiot. in the end she just hung up on me
disgusted!

i had tried to pay her using an overdraft, i used
the name 'seaneen o houlihany' and i told her the car was
basically wrecked so i couldn't guarantee that it would be ok!
she actually took the time to explain to me how to get a
bankers draft because i let on i didn't know what one was!

i'm going to have to start recording the calls because its
hilarious. they think i'm a complete paddy.

Cheers guys. I left this same post on a Nissan 350Z website [my future car hopefully?] and all the peeps there said the same thing. I'll be telling them to bugger off in the future I reckon :D
