Guys,
Im thinking of getting my rocker cover and inlet manifold powder coated in black.
I was wondering what is the going rate for getting both the items done?
And can anyone suggest a good place to get this done from near Heathrow (West London)
any feedback would be much appriacited

if you spray it make sure it is real clean first i steel wooled mine first then painted and clear coat over the color.... it is a pain but you end up with good results

if you sprayed it with heat ressitant paint then no way it should peel. if it did you didn't prepare the surface correctly and you didn't use the correct primer.
no need to poweder coat unless you have a load of cash you wish to spunk up the wall!!
failing that get it sprayed at a bodyshop, will still be cheaper then powdercoat

Go to Metal magic in Barnsley £25 per item, Dipped, blasted, and powder coated any colour and Laqured!
They did my wheels and i was very impressed, as it happens am getting a cam cover and inlet manifold done there very soon, black. but am gonna mill the top of the grooves so there smooth rather than that pitted effect!

OK guys just went and dropped the two items (inlet manifold and the rocker) to this place down the road from where I work. Rainbow Metal Sprayer Ltd, West Drayton
It sounded like the guy knew his stuff.
Basically the guy didn't recommend in going though the powder coat way and had suggested to go for a chemical stain route. He showed me an example and looked pretty good, and said that it is more durable and that it bonds better than powder coat. This stain is normally used on ovens and bar-b-q's, so it will stand the heat.
The basic principal is that he will clean (dipped in acid), shot blasted and then 3 layers of the stain.
The price he's given is £40, and should be ready by next week Wednesday/Thursday
He was going to charge more as I wanted to get some detailing done (silver strips) but I thought I could give that a go my self.
When I get the 2 items back next week I will post some pics up!!
Any feedback??

Hi guys
Picked up the rocker & inlet manifold over the weekend. Was very impressed with the work and quality.
I went for the metal stain option as the guy was saying its more longer lasting then powder coating.
First the items were dipped, then shot blasted and then 3 coats of the paint and baked, all in all £50
Some pics: unfortunatly the quality of pics dont do justice.

Hope this helps!

That rocker cover looks quality mate
But I bet you wished you'd have smoothed the casting marks out of the inlet,
Might look into this process for some of my parts
