Instrument cluster circuit board fried

So yeah it's fried and I want to pick one up from a junkyard rather than paying 175 for a new one does anyone know if the board has the be for the same year and model. I have a 86 325e. Or does it just have to be for the eta engine.

The boards are the same, If you are going to change the whole pod then you can just swap the coding plug over. There may be a reason it fried in the 1st place and if there is the new one will get fried as well.

The reason it fried is because the past owner tried to replace the battery on it and his sotoring (sp?) iron got too close. How much you will to sell your board for?
