Hi, How accurate are the tempurature guages on the e30(325i), mine sits slightly under half and ocassionally flicks over the centre mark, should i be concerned. I have been told that they should never move from centre, is this true.
Also what temperature does the 325i run at , don't wanna do the head gasket.

Thanks for your help

The temperature guages aren't linear. The middle section covers a smaller area than the rest of the guage.

Your guage is perfectly fine, nothing to worry about.

Thread HiJack:

I'm using a new water temp gauge, is it a good idea to run it off the original (brown) sensor or to drill in the new sensor.
