Hi Guys N Gals, just been out for a quick spin in my 318Is, noticed that the drivers side headlight was not on, figured it would simply be a bulb change, but after driving through the belting rain I then noticed that the passenger side light had gone out too, now figuring that I have some water in the system somewhere, anyone have any tips on where I should start and where the problem is likely to be?. Also how do I cure this to stop it happening again?, is WD40 the best solution as protection against water or should I be looking to protect the wires/fittings in some other way?.

Cheers and thanks in advance,

Water will not affect the operation of your lights. Your lights will happily work with your car six feet under water!
Corrosion caused by water is another matter, of course.
All the electrical connectors on an E30 (except possibly the door pillar connectors) are more than adequately connected against corrosion, as long as they haven't been damaged, and are assembled correctly, but a bit of SILICON grease in all electrical connectors is a good idea.

Well, unbelievable, check the light bulbs only to find that they had BOTH blown. CHanged them and problem solved,

Thanks for the advice Brian, going to go through the wiring and see if any connections could become a problem in the future, other than that, all sorted.

Thanks again
