Which wheels would be a straight swap? I dont want to faff around with spacers etc. I have a set of alloys with 4x100 but they dont quite fit tight on the hub.

I assume alloys that fit a mk2 golf fit e30's? any others?

4x100 should fit fine long as the centre bore is correct..

vauxhall and golf wheels are also 4x100 but need spacers

You could always get some spigott rings to make your wheels a tight fit on the hub? I've just got a mate to make some up for my new wheels () but you can find em on ebay etc...

But if you're buying new wheels you need:
4x100PCD
ET25-15ish
57mmCB

Higher offsets can be brought down with spacers (& might fit without but won't look right), & larger CBs can be brought down with spigott rings. The above's only for 7" wide wheels btw - wider ones may need different offsets.

Golf wheels are usually too high an offset, and often not as wide as ours. I've not found anything that had a stock wheel that'd be a perfect fit on an E30...

Dear Dobster

I have many  wheels, and a VW and an E30, so I've performed a few experiments... the actual wheel bolts from each car are a different shape - the BMW has a steeper 'slant' on where the bolt head aligns with the wheel - perhaps that is why 'they don't quite fit tight on the hub'?

If you use BMW bolts on the VW, they seem very very slightly looser in the thread.

Which bolts did you use?

I used the bolts that were on the touring when i bought it, the wheels came with the car (and will be given to whoever buys the car) I've put 14" bbs on the touring now but looking out for cheap replacements for my kerbed-to-hell alloys on my saloon.

then you should get the cheapest and lightest and strongest (cos they are O/E) and most unfashionable

the BMW E30 14" Alloy Bottlecaps; they are practically giving them away on Ebay, usually with new tyres!

And you know they are going to fit :D

e.g.

I know this is in Southampton, but they come up all the time

My current collection of wheels includes:

5 X 14" BBS alloys
7 X 14" Bottle top alloys
4 x 15" OZ racing polaris alloys
4 x 15" Raceline alloys (the ones that dont seem right for the car)
1 x standard e30 steel

I do have 3 cars though so maybe not too excessive! (7 per car?)

(also have a set of 4 standard 13" or 14" wheels from a mk3 astra that i cant get rid of would have had more wheels but gave 4 ford wheels away free, and a bottle cap alloy and 2 opel manta alloys were nicked from round the back of my in-laws house)

I don't understand then - if you want a cheap solution just bung on the bottlecaps

pah a mere amateur

in PCD 100 4 stud I have
4x Hartge 16"
4x BMW BBS 15" cross spokes, used but almost perfect (low miles) I have these on the E30 at the moment
4x BMW BBS 15" cross spokes, used with a few minor kerbings
1x BMW BBS 15" cross spokes, used with a few minor kerbings with a Jap tyre used as my spare
2x BMW BBS 15" cross spokes, new no tyres
2x BMW BBS 15" cross spokes, new or very good refurb (I can't tell which) with no tyres
4x BMW BBS 14" cross spokes, used but almost perfect (low miles) with new Goodyear tyres
5x BMW bottlecap 14", one in unused condition with the original tyre
5x VAG Pirelli 14" P-Slots, refurbed and then a few miles
4x VAG 14" steelies with Goodyear Venturas (I have these on the VW at the moment; truly excellent handling in the wet)
4x VAG 14" steelies with NCT2s for my next set of winter wheels for the VW (hey they were a local paper cheapy, I couldn't resist)
5x VAG nine spoke 13" original alloys for the Golf (I forgot about these as you would)

I emphasise this is only my 4-stud collection - I have a number of 5-studs for another car...

What did you say? No I don't have a problem.... I could give it up at any time....

lol ok you win the wheel collection competition!

sorry if my thread is confusing, just looking for some nice alloys that will definately fit my car. I hate the bottle top alloys (No offence)

but putting naff alloys on it will probably teach me to take care of the oz alloys which were worth an obscene amount till i gashed one

I just enquired about sizes becaus i want to pick some up locally and you dont get many e30's here

i might be in a similarly bad situation mate...

i'm currently riding on 17" alpina reps, but for some sweeter handling i've bought some original refurbed bbs15"s.. However, ive just recieved a 4pot brake kit on 280mmdisks and im unsure whether the 15s will fit over them

apparently the brake kit was put together for the e30, so you'd think that the original e30 wheels would be ok (or do the wheels differ between e30 models?) - but on the brake kit site, it just said under possible wheel sies : some 15s...

I dont know what the offset is on the wheels ive ordered... hopefully im being a cynic and it'll work out ok, but thruogh experience, it doesnt normally wherever im concerned!

hopefully gearheaded lord of all m5pilot may have an idea??

so do I - I don't have any room in the garage for them  so they live under a tree in the garden (except the unused one)

OK so you want something that looks BETTER than a strong BMW 14" alloy, but is CHEAP and are plentiful in the Lake District......

you sound like my wife - 'I want some new shoes/boots that are comfortable, go well with any clothes of any colour, I can dance in them, go to Buckingham Palace in them, garden in them, and look black in daylight and light-coloured at night - what do you mean you won't come round the shops with me?'

lol I can't help being female! 15" bbs would be lovely but they never crop up around here. i want nice wheels, just dont have cash to throw about after spending £400+ on the touring
