Last week the gearbox whent on my work car so ive been using the sport for work, not ideal as i am in the building trade.
Anyway, parked up at this job today, set up and started working when i got a phone call from the contractor who had just left saying that someone had hit my car, i thought he was winding me up so went out to check and sure enough there was a few people gathered around my car a a metro.
This old boy had backed out of his drive, checked to the right and left but not behind him and backed straght into my front wing.
To be be fair theres only slight dent, but it has cracked the paint.
I said to him we can sort this without using insurance companies as this does knowone anygood and but i didnt tell him i was going to get the wing repared anyway as theres a fair bit of rust at the bottom in the ushall spot.
We exchanged details and i said id ring him when i got a quote and i get some cash off him.
What pissed me off was he never even said sorry, and when we was lookin at the damage he said that the dent could be pulled put and started pulling it, i pointed out the paint was cracked and a new wing would be needed.
anyway, ive allready got a diamond black wing to go on but not sure about colour match, also i am abit worried about the tracking and stuff as the wheel must have taken the full inpack.
The car still drives fine and goes in a straght line, i was thinking of getting about £150 notes off of him, thats roughly what it would cost for a new wing and paint, plus i may need to get the tracking done.
what do ya think guys?

in the short yet pointless time i have been alive my good friends, i have learnt that one must exploit such situations as these, else youl regret it.
Act like a proper executive Oz and ring BMW, see what they would charge. Perhaps get an estimate of repair from the also and show the old man and his council motor, maybe just scare the pants of him a bit so he doesnt try and skank you over? im sure the 120 pounds an hour labour that the bmw estimate should show will make him think twice!
Either way dude iv got some spare diamondschwartz wings in my garage, one good n one not so, what side did he hit?

thing is i feel a bit guilty even taking £150, carma and all that shit, felt a bit sorry for the old fool but i am probably being a bit soft here.
Then again i didnt really get a sorry, and my car was parked sensibly, luky he hit the fooked wing with rust on
just wondering if anything mechanicly might be out of alighnment

sorry to hear about yet another nice car falling victim to an old dodery, just be careful as if he decides to go through insurance you could look at paying out for his car,
apparently the laws of this topsy turvy world state that parking directly opposite a driveway makes you liable for any damage caused to a vehicle that then reverses off of said numpties drive.
this has been exploited many a time, by some less scrupulous people, and claiming too high may involving him panicking on costs.
sorry to be bearer of unwanted news but caution prevails.
regards ajay

sorry to hear about it oguz, and yeha lkook on the bright side.
avoid insurance, if hes a real mean/clever fool, then he would make up aload of shit, and say u went into the back of him, try disproving that to a insurance company! they will prob take his word against yours purely cos they will take whats first said. chase him up quick before he talks to his mates and the bright spark of the group trys something stupid ;)

Cheers for all the help and advise guys.
In light of what ajay is saying, do you think £150 would be pushing it a bit, mabie £100 would be safer and i still wouldnt be out of pocket.
I wouldnt want to tip the balance for the sake of £50

A new wing from bmw would be £160 and paint another £80 so id say £200 would be a fair price.

Just phoned him up and agreed on £150, i did say it could have been alot more if i went for geniune bits and he said he would pay the extra but i said one £150 would be fine, at the end of the day its gonna cost me a fraction of that and i find that when ever you start getting greedy in life, you get caught out, at least i always seem to anyway.
according to him there no real damage to his car, just need to replace 2 rivits with bolts, seemed like not too bad an old boy, needs to get his spacial awarness sorted though.
So job done, hopefully thats it. cheers for all the help and advise guys

Sorry to stick this to you after the good news but if his bumper was higher than your hub he could have bent the leg slightly and it may not show until the seals on the shock let go

It may not show until it develops some wear in the damper but have a look anyway and give the top of the wheel a good pull towards you with your feet on the bottom to see if there's any play. Another way it may show is to find a speed bump and drive over it at about 15mph and see if the front of the car settles evenly, if it rocks diagonaly it could mean the shock has gone stiff on that side. But it could just as easily be one of the rears
or have always been like it and you've never noticed.
Not a lot of help realy, sorry
