just wanted your opinion on this :
http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/BMW-E30-ALPINA-C2 ... dZViewItem

i chatted to the seller today and think i could get it for about £7500. I am fairly new to E30's. do you reckon this is good value. he says that he stripped it and it had a re-spay a couple of years ago and has a brand new hood. it looks very tidy. he also sounds well off and had loads of cars including e46 convertible. says he will not sell it for less and wants it to go to a good home. had loads of young kids offering stupidily low money for it and he says he would rather keep it.

your opinions would be most welcome. the only thing missing is the alpina authentication badge from the dash as it was bought as a highly spec'd 325i and then sent to be converted to an Alpina by the first owner in a bid to avoid the long waiting list for alpinas in 1990 ! i guess this theoretically devalues it a bit. current owner bought it from munichlegends 5 yrs ago.

cheers

we need more info about what alpina did.

Thats nice he's re sprayed it but tell him u could buy a very good proper C2 2.7 convertible for that money with a dash plaque, or equally as stylish and rare would be a motorsport convertible.

Maybe he added the alpina bits himself and is talking sh!te? looks to have only wheels anyway

This was on e-bay a few weeks ago and I think the bidding went up to £7.5k but the reserve wasn't met, he must have lowered his price.

It looks a stunning car and very low mileage too.

If the car has all the history and is as good as it looks and you are happy to pay the money, then go for it IMO

he wants 8250 for it but he said if i was serious and was stood in front of him and didnt insult him then he woudl be happy to negotiate a little. i think i could talk him down to 7.5 if my money is on the table.

he says it has the uprated ecu and all the cosmetic detailing. what else should i look for - what did the alpina get over and above the standard 325i convertible ?? also what does a motorsport get ?? sorry to be stupid but my experience of e30s is my stripped out track car which is nothing like road cars !!! (www.greenbmw.co.uk)

the other option is o spend 4-5k on a very nice 318 / 320 convertible. i want something for the summer that will not need any work other than servicing. i am prepared to pay more if it is mint.

4-5k would get you a very nice 325i convertible in my opinion, I think the above car is way overpriced, and as Mr13 says, does't seem to have much of the alpina stuff present.
And, if the car has been so well looked after and only 60k, why would it need a respray?

it's not got cosmetic detailing, just the alloys and boot badges.
And an M-tech 1 bodykit with a tech 2 rear spoiler (BIN IT!)

Ask him where the alpina exhuast has gone, looks to me like it has a magnex backbox/system on it now

All these came with was ECU, camshaft and exhaust.

As it's a half way house it won't have all the bits on it like dash plaque, spoilers and engine numbers etc. Plus if it was done after new then if your lucky there will be a receipt for it

has late steering wheel and a gearnob, leather gear gaitor is not standard

Sorry but it's not worth 7.5k! more like 4-5k. One reason he might want so much for it is munich legends probabaly took his trousers down on the price he paid for it.

Don't get me wrong looks like a good car, my bro in law is on about going to look at it too but not for that money

i think you have a point about the 325i. problem is i cant bloody find one !!! there are lots of tatty ones but i havent got the time or desire to buy a cheap one and do it up !! about the respray - he says that there was some marbling on the bonnet. he had it resprayed but it looked crap so he decided to have the whole car done.

Rekcon its worth 5-6k, and if he bought it at munich legends then he would have paid around 2-3k more than 'book' price for the pleasure..................which brings us back to 5-6k winkeye

not true! my alpina was converted from new at Sytners when they were still building the RHD cars.

They were never re registered as alpina's mine comes up on the bmw system still as the base spec car before the conversion so a black 325i 2 door. Gay isn't it, why they never bothered is a mystery along with the fact they never kept any bloody records of how many they built of each variant :?

i am not really after performance - i get that on the track as i am fortunate enough to be able to do 1-2 trackdays a month in the other e30. that has about 207bhp and is stipped & lightened (fibreglass boot/bonnet, ally fuel cell etc) so it keeps me entertained !! . i have a 2 seater lotus seve replica which is also fast (0-60 in 5.7secs) - but the problem is with a 3yr old kid and another one on the way then i never get out in the seven. i want a convertible that all the family can share - i figure an e30 is just the job. cheers for all your help mate . very useful info.

no offence, but that dosn't look that nice at all for the money. There are a couple of Msport convertibles on ebay at the moment. A Calypso red one and a very tidy looking blue one ith low milage. I dont know about the red one, but Dean contacted the seller of the blue one and his reserve is £5k. I know wheich one i'd be looking at winkeye :D
