the issues with the chips is cos of all the different little mods they did in it's short production life? i know about the lighter flywheel on the early ones. Did you sell it with the chip in it Karan?

camber ...euh...did i nt mention -6 front -4 rear bilstein & eibach ? :D
seriously , i really think you ought to consider getting widder tires....215 being the most before they hitt inside the rear wings on accel ....( without get a body modd of course )
i must ad your rims are slightly heavier than 15"... that means that the dif will be alot more felt where as 15" in 205 50 barelly feal the diff betwen 3.91 and 3.73...

i love the look of standard bbs in 15in and i luuuuuuuuuuurve the handling... i can feel exactly what the back end is doing on these, and the breakaway is very very good, i also sometimes run 205/50 on the rear which are nice but i havent done any comparative times between different tyres...

yeah, sorry my mastake, just so used to people having alpina's here that i forgot you had the original rims , that i love, i kept one as my spare :wink: ...

i so understand your fealing about handling and the way its stuck to the road without over reactin on bad surfaces.... 8)

but with over 200hp i'd probably be runing 215 45 15 unfortuanatly the prices arn't the same :cry:

hopefully with the good days coming back you'll get it to fly without loosing to much of your tires behind :wink:

Got mine fitted to the car yesterday and went out @11pm to avoid the traffic.

Initially i was getting 0-60 in 8.2 to 8.5 secs but couldnt get grip as it was snowing. So i went to a flat straight with that light brown grippy tarmac at the lights and got a perfect launch, no wheelspin at all.

Pretty good for a 320i saloon with 325i throttle body remap and a 3.64 diff dontcha think ?

Cant wait to test it with the 2.7.

Just hit 60 in second right at the redline !.

The clutch bites a little higher up now, oops

I think its a combination of both chip and diff on mine, the rev-limiter kicks in around 6800 and the diff is a 3.64 instead of a 4.1.

Bit naughty really as i just rebuilt the diff 2 weeks ago and am still running it in :oops:

OK guys, just got mine and been out for a few 0-60 runs in my iS

7.7
8.1
7.3! - lightning fast gear changes here
8.7 - too much wheelspin and slow gear change

I guess the 1st 2 are probably most representative, quicker than I was expecting still though.

Not bad for 4-pot 'wrongness' eh?

You got a 3.91 in there mate, not sure about the chip tho - perhaps someone here with an unchipped iS want to see? :D


Also, if you were to run 205/55/15's and compared to 205/40/17's I think you'll find that there isn't much difference in speedo reading - the diamater of the wheel changes by a mere 6mm. All speedo's are out regardless of changing wheels or not I thought?

Nope still got the 4.1 open diff
Car is totally std AFAIK, but the rev limiter doesnt kick in until well into the red, so maybe I'm hitting 60 in 2nd?

My rev limiter would kick in at 6600rpm i think in standard form on the iS if that's any help! Not sure what speed that would hit though.

if the actual rim is bigger ie 17 instead of 14inch, then the 17 wheel is doing less revolutions at say 30mph than a 14 wheel. As the speed on an E30 is measured through the diff and how many turns it's doing it's fair to say the speedo will be slightly out, than if it is running with it's factory wheels.

The overall wheels size will have some effect too.

Thats why with bigger wheels your car is faster at top end speeds and the engine will reving slightly lower on the motorway for instance.

Smaller wheels better low end acceleration ie to 60

i got 15.1 at 95mph on my gtec. think 0-60 was 6.9 i was bloody stoked.
and that was with losts of wheel spin lol 1 2 3rd.i was once told that an open 3.63 diff is better than a 3.73lsd for 0-60mph because is was able to hold the perfect amount of wheel spin and revs on a 325i ! that was standard cars tho. my car is chiped /pod/ proper cold air box, and slight exhaust mods. runs very very well. oh and that was with full interior eg subs etc

Wouldnt mind getting hold of one of these, see what my 1.8 and my brothers IS can do!. Im sure id be around 0-60 =1 month.

Yeh mine wouldnt be too bad i dont recon, with my tires and small wheels it seems to pick up ok, when ive been with Josh in his IS his pulls away a bit, but not sh*tloads more, so it would be interesting to see some figures. BHP would be cool too,to check if my chip as started working yet lol, cant say ive noticed a difference!

Actually, just checked my bank, and i may be able to stretch to get one! Be nice to test my dads yank motors. His chevy with a 350 lump aint amazingly quick,but im sure it has some f**king grunt!

I'm a bit dubious about this.... :cry:

My mate has a stock 200sx s13, and to be quite honest its a heap, the car misfires a lot, and apparently has shite compression.
Last night we did about 10 0-60 runs and 1/4 miles, the first reading was 6.55 and a quarter mile of 14.84 with a terminal speed of 93.7

Then after a few more runs he got a 0-60 run of 5.96 - it was a good pull-off and good shifting however he did a few runs afterwards that I felt were a lot better in these areas but turned out to be slower. yet the 1/4 mile was 15+

Since when could a stock s13 do 0-60 in 5.96? Almost makes my 2.7 conversion sound poo now :(

I'll bet that car does have some mods, S13's despite looking and sounding ropey sometimes still put out lots of power.

Though this one does sound pretty damn quick.

Also, runs that 'feel' brilliant sometimes aren't the best, despite you being willing to bet on it! I know this from experience at the Pod. Doing a run, thinking..'That wasn't bad' can be your quickest run. A run where you think you've set your PB can be your slowest of the day!

Yea I understand what ya mean about the 'feel' of a quick run but infact is crap lol, must be adrenalin or somethin at the time!

But I do know this is a stock s13, its shite and the engine is hangin - there is no mods to it and the internals are awful, the guy doesnt know how to look after a car, he's had it since xmas and hasnt filled it with oil yet :roll:

Sounds pretty dodgy.....!!!

Is it definately not chipped? Or some 'home-improvement' to give it more boost. Those times are impossible from a standard s13...... under 6 to sixty?!

Yea I'm pretty dubious, the guy bought it off some old bloke who was about 60, surely he woulda told him about the mods... :eek:

Just makes me wonder..0-60 in 5.96 in a 170bhp turbo, 0-60 in a 2.7...hmm :cool: :cool:

ive had a very ropey s13 stay in front of me pretty much equal, the thing was smoking like a bitch and was some sh1tty beige colour, i was only gaining on him slowly,

its prob been modded but he doesnt know..

Dont they have loads of torque compared to a 325 though despite having about the same BHP? Also very easyto get more outof 'em being turbo engines, and there are very few that haven't been tweakd at somepoint
And all s13 engines are ropey - they're known for the big and going at only 80k!

Anywy I think the thing with these g-techs is to do a load of runs, throw away the most optomistic and worst ones then take an average of the rest.
