Am i right in thinking that cat equipped cars have an extra hose connection on the underside of the tb? If this is the case can it be re-routed elsewhere (servo vacuum pipe?). I want to finally fit my 2.5 tb but this could be a problem if it's the case.

hi m8, you are correct, there is an extra connection for the tank purge valve, all the M20 tb's should have the extra fitting , its normally capped though, just remove the cover and all should be revealed

Or you could remove the carbon cannister and tuck the vent pipe from the fuel tank into the suspension turret bracing, as on earlier E30s.
Leave the solenoid valve connected electrically though, as The ECU may get upset if it's removed. (Does on an M50, but never tried on a M20).

Over the top emissions stuff. Part of the sealed fuel tank arrangements.
