It was my first Zone meet and it was a pleasure to meet you guys. It was good to finally meet you Bootyman (nice car) and to speak other E30 fanatics (M3BEN05).
Some lovely cars attended the show.

Cheers

Again a bit of bitching when it comes to modding..shame

As for the bonnet open to show of a strut brace...so what?

I had my bonnet open all day to show of my painted manifold and rocker cover, the engines clean but not that clean, and i had people throwing good comments all day on how mint it looked...dislike or like whatever you like but never bash someones pride and joy when they.ve spent hard earned cash on it..that is just wrong and TBH mostly comes from peeps who just cant afford to mod there own cars the way they like..had this convo with so many Zoners and all who ive spoke to agree with my statements..shame some cant help em selfs..

As for the atmosphere,i thought it was cool but that was my first time so i cant really compare...i should of bothered to meet outher zoners but TBH i stayed with my car..lol,dont ask why..i just did...too protective i guess as ive only attended 2 meets so far and with the way of the world these days trust is hard earned..

Booty, your ride rox dude, and liked talking to yer bud,and i look forward to yer..... well you know winkeye ..

Ant,sure i saw yer car m8 but didnt get to meet you

Gouki,Get to work on yer car m8,sounds like you got in yer head what you wanna do but i guess it all comes down to the paper

in general a good day, might make the e30 specific but is it a night meet? could be a bit hard cuz of work etc

hi jamz
i remember you now
i had white e30 with tool kit in boot etc.
nice to meet you.
i also mostly stayed with car mainly due to tools could have got swiped incase anyone missing a spanner or two.its also nice when peeps come and appreciate work ive done.
i think cars always look better in flesh so to speak than a photo.
also agree if zoners dont like
just a not my cup of tea will do,and not that looks awful or crap, politeness costs nothing abusing offends.

To be fair though - id rather people give me honest opinions on stuff like my car - if something looks complete shit id prefer to know instead of people saying things like "different" or "if you like it then its ok".

Dont know about you guys but i cant always make my mind up immidiately if something looks good or not - thats why i always ask for other view points.

I wouldnt take any of these comments personally, its a fact that as soon as you start to modify a car you will instantly divide opinions...

Like i said i had a really good day and it was really nice to put faces to a few names on the Zone. I have to agree with J on this that you should not knock other peoples car. We've all done it with some of the crap on ebay, me included, but that's all light hearted fun. The problem comes when someone's ride is slated for their personal taste or choices, but the whole point of modding is that you do things not cause it has any practical value, but cause it can be done and it's what you like. I also agree that sometimes it's helpful for people to point out things to you or give you an alternative choice, but it's the way it's said that's the problem and not the content of what is being said. Look at the way some newbies are slated when they join with some very hurtful comments. If i ever joined a forum and i got that kindof reception, there is no way on Gods Earth i'm going back there again. When Ffi joined the forum, the 1st observation she made was the way people slate others for modding when they cant afford or wont mod their own car. I do understand that most here are purists who think the Tech1 & 2 kit and alpina reps are the best thing since sliced bread, but there are some of us who like hardcore modding too and at the end of the day, the Zone is a place for all E30's so just some understanding and sensitivity is all that's needed and people wont get upset and we can all continue to make this place the great place it is

Moof I had to wash the wheels completly down and then about 10 cab etc went to London and brought the place to a stand still :D At one point we all stopped in the middle of the road at Piccadaily to allow the tourists to take pictures. My mate with the blue E46 next to my car at Ace even popped his bonnet and there was a massive traffic jam winkeye :D

I post on many of the forumns and I love the ones that embrace what modding is all about..

Its not just about who can spend the most $$ on their ride..

Its more about imagination and creativity..
and havin the bollocks to to put their neck on the line and go for it..even tho they know its gonna get slated by the majority..

It should be embraced and encouraged not slated just because its different..

Now I know that not all mods are good..hell..we've all seen the pimp my ride advert..lol..but I would never dream of slating them as easily as some..A sinple..not my flavour but can appreciate the work normally does the trick..
Me myself I couldnt imagine havin anything standard..but thats just me..oh and the buzz from the looks you get when you're drivin along is also addictive..When shes parked up the amount of people that come up to me and ask questions is amazing..Now they are mostly men and their gf's don't like it but hey....Goes with the territory for me I am afraid..
I put pics of the 5GTT up in a few of the forumns and because every panel is covered in leather (even the leather wheel arches) it got slated..
Which I think is hilarious..
Then I post pics up in a Mod's room or indeed RTOC and the amount of positive messages and especially pms I got saying how amazing it was was fantastic so its just horses for courses..

When you're a modder you gotter take the rough with the smooth..but remember kids..just cos its different..it doesnt mean its wrong..lol

And to all the haters..We're about to start leathering the roof.. :D

And that concludes todays service by pastor Ffi :D

My Motorsport in now nearly finished. All body work is done. Just waiting for paint now, but notice i havent put anything about here since it went in the garage. I know a lot of people are wondering what has happend to it, but it's the slating that puts people off putting the progress of their cars here. I'm far from shy and most on the Zone know that i'm proper hardcore so any car that i send in the bodyshop is getting raped and buggered regardless of what the masses think, but if even i cant be bothered now, what chance has the newbies and the more shy people got? :(

Ben... I reckon you're winding yourself up dude. No-one REALLY slates your cars at all... Given that they are probably the most complete cars on the Zone, I would think even if someone DID slate it, deep down inside they're actually admiring all the hard work that's gone into them and are actually quite envious that their cars are not a patch on yours...

Okay, bum licking session over.

Didnt mean for it to turn into a sermon but its just I am very passionate about it...

I appreciate every customer..from the ones that spend major $$ to the 17 year old who comes around with big dreams and limited budget..

And i agree..its difficult for the newbies..I have seen it time and time again on other forumns..they post their pics up..get slated..never to be heard of again..

Good job I am welsh and used to takin abuse..lol

The more haters..the more it motivates me to do something even more outrageous..can't wait to start our next project in the autumn..

G i wasnt refering to me at all mate. If id ever been bothered about what people thought of my cars, i would have just bought a Nice 330 coupe and be just like everyone else. I like the attention my car creats and comments (Both good and bad) so i'm not fighting this battle for myself. It's for people like Elf and the other newbie who spent 2 years building his car and was lynched when he posted pics of the car here. Like most here, there were aspects of the car i would have done differently (But lots of people would say that about my cars too), but some of the comments made were quiet hurtful and were not called for and it's things like that, that i'd like to see vanish from the zone :D

Like i said, by all means dont lie if you dont like someones car or aspects of it, but like i said, it's the way people put it across rather than the contents of what they say that upsets people

Nothing wrong with modding - will be starting mine soon, nothing on par with yours Ben but still different  Can't wait for the reactions on it.

Call it a Marmite situation at a friends house, you either love it or hate it but either way you wouldn't just blurt out your opinion straight from the hip.
