Hi guys,
Anyone got a Clifford Concept 650 alarm system fitted to their E30? If so, does anyone know why mine would beep 4 times and then 'chirp' every five seconds as if someone was repeatedly setting off the sensor?
Any help or information on where to get help would be much appreciated!
Cheers!

yeah i got one in my iS. and mine keeps doing exactly the same f*cking thing!!
basically, when you 'arm' the car, it should 'blip' twice. i then 'blups' four times to tell you that you havnt closed an access zone properly, for example a door, or your boot!
however, if you have definately shut your doors and your boot properly, try this...
un-arm car, and open drivers door. the interior lights should come on. close door. the interior lights should go out
repeat porcess with passenger door/doors and with boot (the boot light)
if your lights are not going on and off as they should, it means your door contact pins are knackered, and the alarm thinks that the door or boot is open, and is telling you this.
also, a friend of mine (extensively QUALIFIED auto-electrician) who fitted the alarm for me, said that if you have loose change or metal objects in your centre console, or ashtray, this can make the alarm do loopy things!!
has the alarm always done this, or is it just recent?

No, alarm has only been acting like this for past two weeks, it's driving me nuts!
I do have loose change in the front centre console though, maybe this is the reason!? I will remove it and see if it makes a difference. If not I will check all the door pins and interior lights etc...
Thanks for your help guys!

Have you tried changing the sensor sensativity, i used to have the concept 600 and it used to always chirp. apparently you can adjust it somehow. hope this kind of helps.

Well the system was working fine until two weeks ago, so I don't reckon it's to do with sensitivity, but will bear that in mind.
Have discovered that my interior lights stay on when doors shut (had them switched off before hand) so this would indicate shagged pins I guess.
Cheers guys!

Had this problem on mine a while back.
Check that the boot lid is closing fully.
The part of the lock mechanism in the boot lid itself has an adjuster nut.
This slackens off over a period of time and even though the lid is locked down, it isn't fully shut, so the alarm system thinks it's open.
Look closely at the edges of the boot lid and see if the line up with the tops of the wings.

Bootlid seems fine I reckon! When I push the contact pins in the boot light goes out, but the two interior lights don't when I push the drivers and passengers pins!
How much of a hassle is it to check/replace them if they are causing the problem?

Very unusual for the door pin switches to fail in this way. Usual problem is that the light doesn't come on when the door is opened.Phatz wrote:Bootlid seems fine I reckon! Easy to remove and check - just unscrew the self tapping screw and rmove. If you disconnectthe wire, don't let it spring back in through the hole, or you'll have some dismantling to do to retrieve it.
You don't simply have the switches on the interior lights set the wrong way, do you?

Am back from work and about to check the contact pins.
Thanks for the advice Brianmoooore, as far as I am aware, the interior lights have three settings, one is on constant, two is off constant, and three is on when doors are open, am I right?
I think the pins are the problem as the lights stay on constant on two of these settings.
Anywayz will let you chaps know what I find!
Cheers fellas
