Anybody had problems with the said item.

1st one had perished. Totally goosed.

2nd one seems to allow washer fluid to p*ss out through small holes. Into the engine bay.

Any suggestions.

Cheers Gareth.

I'm glad I aint the only one.....one day I noticed the jets had lost power so had a lookie and mine was the same, two small holes on the sides were working better than the jets! pissing water all over the scuttle and inside of the bonnet.
I ended up punching the main chambers through and sealing the unit with tape, but a second hand one from scrappies is prob easier :D or a normal T-piece, anyone know what this overengineered T-piece does?

Gareth, if this is the little white colour plastic bit quite near to the spray nozzles on the bonnet you are referring to, then yes, it does get clogged up and goes funny sometimes.

Just get a new one from the $tealers : VALVE - 61 66 1 374 978 - Ԛ£4

I stole a whole load from scrappys, alot were blocked. Not sure whats the best stuff to clean them with but perhaps boiling with a descaler hepls. I eventually got one unblocked and working. Seems like if your wash system gets blocked, there are release valves on the unit to stop any unwanted pressure in the system but once they go and it starts watering your enginebay, you need to completely replace it. I think I used a T shaped less complicated piece of plastic of another make and model which was half its size and alot more simple. Works fine now.

Seems like the system is almost over engineered

i had this problem also.I fitted a new one from the stealers and it started to squirt out the little hole again.

Its a t piece but also a one way valve to keep the fluid and pressure constantly there.

I fixed mine by putting in a normal plastic t piece and fitted a one way valve before it.I used a bmw one way valve off the headlamp wash system.

I've replace mine twice in 4 years.

Wood BMW in Hook keep plenty of stock on the shelf for this part!

The bmw part is a one way valve aswell i think. I used an open t-piece and the water took a second to arrive at the jets. I have bought 2 bmw t-piece in 3 years. plus the hoses kept droping off, zip tied everything and no more worries...on the washer jet front anyway.

Guys, if its any help, they are one way valves and are to stop the water from flowing all the way back to the bottle. (So when you want to spray the water doesnt have to be drawn all the way along the pipe again.) When they go, they always replaced with a new part (where i work anyway). They may still leak slightly before the pipes settle back into the correct place and heat and cool a couple of times.
Some cars (e36 anyway) have crimp rings round them to keep them on.
