Small technical differences here and there, nothing major tbh except for the engine head.

i think things like the colour options for the seat material changed slightly pulus one or two other things but not much, not sure about suspension differences other than some of hte very early ones didn't have eccentric control arm bushes i think but i'm not sure, enven if they do, its not hard to do and most would have been done already
other than that i think it was just the engine that differed

Lee 20bhp between the engines it alot!
Ive driven a 195bhp early model and it felt totaly dead! If i ever got one the first thing it would get is a Engine upgrade.

There is hardly any difference between them, they all have the same bodyshells, glass, panels etc, some really late cars have different style cloth.
EVO II and EVO Sport are much different with lightended glass and body panels.
215 cars have 48 throttle bodies were as the 200bhp car has 46mm
195bhp cars are the same as 200bhp engine.
My car is a 195 bhp cat model but remapped at bexley motorsport, i am now producing 210bhp. To get a remap costs about 350 but it transforms the car.
There will be no difference between my car and a 215bhp model and very slight difference to a EVO II or Sport EVO
Also keep in mind that a well looked after 195bhp car is much better than a battered and mis treated higher BHP car.

The Evo II has lighter Rear quarter windows and boot, but nothing else! Where as the SE has far more weight savings.
I can assure you that a Evo II will be alot faster than your 195 model and a SE will wipe the floor.
It would be interesting to find out how Bexleys managed to get another 15bhp from your car.
Can you post a pic of the Dyno Graph?

evo 2 also has lightened rear screen
bumpers are lighter
also evo 2 has diff flywheel,diff cams,higher compression,different diff
additional rear spoiler,alloy bottom arms
chin spoiler
etc
some of these became standard on later cars but none on earlier 195 cars
there are far more differences than at first glance

But were talking about a 215 evo, not an evoII here. The 215 had the alloy bottom arms but not the splitter or double rear spoiler.

I have to agree with Demlot here.
I have owned a D reg 190 odd BHP car and the current 215 bhp model I have now.
The is a very noticeable difference in power above 4000rpm. Ant had the chance to drive both aswell and said exactly the same thing.

Forgot about the bumpers John! Looking at the ETK its only the acual carriers under the bumper are different but the actual 'trim' pannel is the same on all models except SE cars with the front lower spoiler molded into the trim.c76jon wrote:evo 2 also has lightened rear screen

But im sure engine wise the only differences between the EvoII and the stock 215bhp ones is;
As fitted to EvoII engines
Sprocket
Smaller Throttle bodies
High comp Pistons
Lighter Fly wheel
Both engines have the same cams just that the Evo II has a sprocket which retards the timing on the exhuast by 6deg.

The throttle bodies are only specific to the EvoII the inlet track is 46mm but where it mates to the head the throat is borred out to 48mm. Its a very trick casting by BMW and some say were fitted to the 320is early Rally cars.
