Cars and girlfriends have alot in common.
They both make you angry+ make you cry, bleed your wallet + moan when they are old.
But at least the car makes sense!

Heater is NOT part of the MOT. Though you could always get a heated front screen fitted.

Demister is required by SVA though, so presumably it's part of construction and use (or whatever that's called these days), so possibly the car could bre considered to be not road legal.

I think "kit cars" use a small electric fan connected to windscreen vent to pass "SVA". Would probably suffice for demisting duties

Not sure that many Kit Cars have heaters. Stuff like Caterhams probably wont have one.
re Heated screen, no idea where to get one or how to fit it really. Big relay I guess

Any that have full screens and have gone through SVA will have had a screen demister of some sort at the time of the test.
IIRC, Ford has the patent on heated front screens, and aren't too keen on sharing it.

I think i read some where that some one was using two rear E36 Cabriolet demister/heater/fan things in place of the normal heater matrix and fan to de-mist his wind screen ?
Might have been that stripped out LS1 powered E30 M3 that was in TBMW ?

Kit car suppliers sell 12V hair drier type things for the job.

I have a kit-car without a heater, passes MOT OK. Brianmoooore is correct that all new kit-cars must have some method of demisting front screen to pass SVA. Some of the guys building kit-cars fit camping/caravan hair-driers that run on 12v to get around this.

Never had one in my mini, just open the side windows a bit!!!
These guys sell a heated front screen for the M3:
http://www.heatedwindscreen.com/acatalo ... reens.html
Same fitment???
I know there is another site that do a huge range of heated front screens but i can't find it!! Nearly bought one for my mini and i think they're available for pretty much any car if you can find the company!!
