Fair play on the purchase, looks to be in very nice order. Wouldn't recommend challenging that Skyline to a drag though
Well done and welcome to bmw ownership

you will only end up feeling daft if you do race the Skyline.. Sport is not even in the same league of performance 170bhp vs. 600bhp. Most powerful non turbo m20 on here has had many k spent on it and 'only' makes 250bhp.. In a car which isnt exactly light, and has the aerodynamics of a breeze block, it aint gonna happen
0-60 is 7.5 secs - Skyline will be easy be sub 5 secs
looks like the motor has at least been cleaned up tho..

Firstly Welcome to the zone.
Looks like a nice purchase, by im very sceptical about the 140 in fourth thing? Have you got access to a gps unit (ie Road angel or the likes).
Do you have any ideas what modifications have been made over the years?
Most of all Enjoy it, but be carefull doing that sort of speed on a public road.

E30s due to their 1970s suspension set up, relative light weight and driver involvement certainly "feel" quite quick.
Most powerful car I've driven at length is a 320bhp Audi, and yet the E30 316i I jumped into afterwards did feel more of a handful simply as it's so "raw".
I doubt you've got anything other than a standard Sport there, but at 18 it's still a decent amount of power. How much is insurance by the way?
Gotta say I'm shocked that there's an 18-year-old girl on here and the site perverts haven't popped up yet. No pun intended of course.

Meant to tell everyone earlier, i was having a bit of a ding dong up the M8 against a concorde in my 316i. He dropped a gear and floored it the same time i did, the tarmac started to buckle under my tyres and i went into a wheelie. i was gubbing him like he was going backwards.
So yeah, your 325i probably will beat this 640bhp skyline you talk of, cos E30's are the fastest cars ever you know.

I know you're right about the premiums, just don't like to admit it
I'm 19 next week though so only 2 years and a bit until I can insure some serious metal for reasonable money
Have you taken any pics then (of the car, of course)

And I can get insured by Sheila's Wheels by the way
Still even if it were the cheapest I couldn't go with them, what if someone asks who I'm insured with?
Conan it seems from the quotes I've got that insurance drops about 40% as soon as you turn 21 - reasonable enough for me

I used to hate that on my car, was like driving a boat, put your foot down and the front would rise, brake and the front goes down. Now sorted with new uprated shocks and springs all roundJon_Bmw wrote:This is what i thoughtbillgatese30 wrote:sounds more like the shockers are knackered
