anyone know what's the difference between a 318iS g/box and a C2 one.
The car I've got has got a 318is box but a 2.7 engine and am planning trackdays...
Would there be any advantage at all in changing my 318is g/box for a C2 one ?
C2 Gearbox ?

i can't se how this car is working at all!
no such thing as a C2 gearbox, all boxes used with this engine are standard 325i affair whether it be a normal manual, close ratio or auto box

Ah, maybe I should explain.... maybe the car does have a 325 box then.... I just assumed that as it was originally a 318is the original box had been left in when the engine was changed from the 318 to a 2.7, but I cant remember Jim saying it had been changed.
I suppose the question really should be is the C2 box any different to a standard (non sport) 325i box then ?
I really am a bleedin novice at this

Jim would have had to change the box, like Si said, & there's no need to change it again (or anything really worth changing it to). The sport 'box just has different ratios AFAIK...
Don't think he got round to fitting a short shifter, but you'll be wanting one... z3 2.8i is a good start.
Nice car btw!
