if i buy a lsd, will it bolt straight onto my car that didnt come with one?

Pretty much yes. If you have a 320i as per your forum name you'll want a 4.1 diff from another 320i or a 318iS which will bolt straight in.

However, the 4.1 ratio is a bit on the revvy side for a 320i so I'd go for a 3.91 diff from a 325i sport which will fit as long as you undo the propshaft centre clamp and slide the rear half of the prop forwad approximately 1 inch. The large case diff from a 325i is about an inch longer so the prop needs to be moved accordingly.
