i got the iS engine out yesterday inc the box, loom etc ready for mak-71(paul) to pick up for his tourer!

today i took the powersteering crap out... and then got busy disconnecting the m5 loom from the rest of the m5 but not the engine.. this was a bit worrying at times as i had to remove the old skool chip immobiliser it has which had been wired into both the engine side of the loom as well as the car loom near the ignition barrel. As i have no faith in my electrical abilities i was well chuffed that it started after removing the immobiliser!!!!

next im gonna strip all the m3 susp i bought and paint it nice shiny black along with the diff, then fit some nice h&r coilovers that should be arriving next weekend. then to get the lump in and get the shell 'adjusted' to suit.

all going 'smootish' so far--i hope it stays that way 8O

Nice one Karan :chuckle: I had some strange looks from people driving by when I was stood in my engine bay. The postmans double-take was the best

Youve decided to go with coilovers then. Are you using the h&r M3 coilover kit?

yeh im going with that set that was on pistonheads-got it for a silly price cheaper than a new spring and shock kit so i couldnt say no

rear is fixed height but the front is adjustable.

just debating whether or not to poly bush everything....
or just put new stock bushes on.. the rear subframe bushes are new anyway as are the tca bushes, but trailing arm bushes arent new so i may change them...

Nice, like you say, would be rude not to.

It will be good to hear how you get with the 5stud conversion. Im going to do the same with mine - once Ive got it running.

if u mean how it goes with regards to fitting.... it all bolts on as a direct swap, and if ure running abs.. this will all hook up too

Cheers Karan. I assumed it was a direct swap, but wasnt sure.

I had been told that there was a issue with front wheels catching on the arches cause the M3 has a wider track??
The guy who told me couldnt explain anymore, so I dont think he knew what he was talking about. He also told me the S50 engine wouldnt physically fit in the E30....

Nice vid btw. I bet the neighbours loved that

yeh track is increased all round....... however im using stock 15s from an m3 not the 16s... hopefully itll work and maybe just a bit of rolling will be required..

will let u know how it goes anyway..

in fact if im happy with the coilovers ill have a spare set of front m3 struts which when coupled with a setup on the rear from a compact or a z3 and ull have a 5 stud all round-woohoo

That would be great Karan. :thumb:

I would prefer to use the 16" BBS wheels, the main reason for changing to 5stud, so I would need to check if it will all fit.
