Don't know if its just me, but that don't read right does it? Has anyone seen anything like this before? Who would buy a car without coming to see it first?...and what should I do about it? My email address has only appeared on my PistonHeads and bmwcarshowroom.com, so I know it aint from here.
Any ideas?

Sounds dodgy to me mate, if you go along with it then don't release the car until the cheque has cleared.

I had it lots when i was selling my 4dr... SCAM
basically they send someone with a cheque for say £1000 more than you want and ask you to give them cash so that the bloke collecting it can pay to export it,
the cheque would clear, then funds be taken back when cheque declared stolen
run away

You'll get shed loads of these mate...complete scams.
Also if companies ring saying "We have people waiting to buy your car...bla bla bla guarantee to sell your car bla bla" Tell them 2 words....second word is 'Off'
Dont let them talk you into it, complete bollox

Cheers for the advice guys.
Now I'm trying to second guess messages I'm getting regarding my car. Just logged onto clubgti.com [as I left an ad on there - you never know?] and I got a PM saying this:
hello im interested in your Bmw i would like to know a bit of info. please contact me on 01803 xxxxxx
regards
Tony
The person only just joined the Club and has 0 posts. If he was interested why aint he calling me? I left a link to here with my contact details. What could happen if I called it?

Hmmm, if he was short of a penny trying to save his phone bill he wouldnt be buying a Motorsport.....
It doesnt look like a high-toll number to me, looks like a normal uk std code. Just ring it, probably some dreamer but you never know.
Nice motor btw, bet your gutted.

Wierd though as the number is from the torquay area...
My friend runs a firm who do actually source cars for their customers.
I agree though as the whole wording seems a little unproffesional...
As everyone has said.. Be careful or at least make sure the funds are cleared b4 releasing the beast...

dont even take a bankers draft....there are forged ones about ...you get a draft from a buyer ...you pay it into your bank....you even pay extra to express it through to speed things up....the bank tells you its cleared ...you release the car ....a few days later the bank tell you its a forgery and show your account in the red to the sum of the draft and ask you for your immediate payment ...you have lost your car and owe the bank shitloads of money........take cash everytime

The scam is well known, and unless you want to have a go at ripping them off then leave well alone.
As for the guy asking you to call him, he's probably just being polite so you can call him when it's convenient to you, cos he may not want to call you whilst you are at work etc...

Yeah it is a well known scam.
However if you were like me id reply and go along with them right until they send it and then send them a ranting email. I get the ones from Africa and they would like to depost millions in my bank i soon tell them where to go.
Id get them to send you the cheque and then keep it as a souviner or post a picture of it up on here to show us all what it looks like.
good luck with the sale mate.
