I have concerns over the strength of the 2 bolt crossmember (E30) I've used but have PM'ed JMC330i and he has the same.

I'd just like to know what others have used.

It's not so much the strength of the crossmember, its the 2 wee bolts holding it on that scares me, on realoem they show a 4 bolt thing?

Cheers.

have you used the 6 speed ?
I've got the 6 and had to make a custom braket so i made it with 4 bolts.
Im sure the 5 speed will be ok with the 2 as it was designed.

He has the E36 M3 5spd IIRC, so has the 325i crossmember and mounts.

I think the concern is more about it only have 2 fixing points to the car and whether this will hold up to another 100bhp (and abuse winkeye ).

I know the RealOEM (and ETK) shows a four hole crossmember for the E30, but Ive only ever seen an E30 crossmember with 2 holes - the ETK pics arent always accurate.

The cross member on the gearbox that came from my crash damaged ZRoadster is smashed (from the crash).

Which part do I need? Is it the E36 325i cross member and mounts or the E30 325 ones?

The gearbox is a five speed unit but a friend who has been all over M3 stuff in the past says it is more similar to his 325 gearbox than any E36 3 litre gearbox. This struck me as odd, I'd have thought they'd have used the 3 litre box as it was tried and tested with the torque. Perhaps my mate is wrong.

Still? Any conclusion as to which cross member to use?

Jai

PS: Wont the majority of torque be taken up in the farthest out subframe mounts and engine mounts. The gearbox cross member is there to support the gearbox, not provide twist..

For the E36 M3 5spd box, the E30 325i crossmember and rubber mounts fit, so I would guess this would be the same for the ZRoadster 5spd.

Hmm, that would be good to know if it does.
