OK,

I will try to explain best I can!
Im just finishing off the wiring on the M50, photo's later.

Basically, what I need to know is where the POS lead, (I think its POS because its "RED") goes?
Its the red lead that comes out of the bulkhead about three inches under the fusebox.

Cheers Guys

All reds to battery +.
E36 loom has a red or two that just pass through the wiring box - in one side and out the other connecting to nothing, and can be removed complete.
E34 loom, IIRC, doesn't have this wire.

Use the original E30 cable from battery+ to starter motor.

I havent touched the starter motor yet, seen a big fat earth coming from it with a battery terminal on the end??

So the red cable came off the battery plus? Its coming from my car! I get so confused, when I start it tomorrow, the bloody car will blow up! :?

You'll need a battery + to the starter motor. (Use the thick black E30 one), a feed from battery + to the fusebox, and a feed from battery + to your engine loom.

Does this mean more wiring??
Brian wrote:You'll need a battery + to the starter motor. (Use the thick black E30 one),

So the big black cable from the starter motor with the battery terminal on it goes to battery +

Brian wrote: feed from battery + to the fusebox
Is that the red one coming from the bulkhead under the fusebox about CM thick with an O end?

Brian wrote:and a feed from battery + to your engine loom
Is that easy?

Is this happening while your keying it over or while its running?
If its while its running your starter is sticking and you should buy one off me

When keying it, havent had it running long because of the "NO" exhaust thing.

Possibly a bad connection then, Have you checked the tightness of the nut? Earth straps, mounting bolts etc?

Your solenoids fuckered then
Probably took a knock while engine swapping

More likely a poor connection from the main battery cable in the first place, but it's well cooked now!
M20 starter has different teeth from M50 starter, depending on what flywheel you're using.

It was the starter that came with the engine! :?

I think I fooked it, was working fine.....then I changed the big black lead to the battery for a better one(Old one had a split in it) and I think I broke the starter then. Undoing bolt and the whole part rotated.
