Might just be your rocker cover gaskets which need to be replaced if oil is getting on to the top of the plugs.

Dead easy, if so.

Hi

I am doing this at the moment on my m42, a lot of parts to strip of to get down to the head, if you getting oil down the side of the plusm there is a small gasket at the top between the rocker cover & plug shaft, this is the only way for oilto get down the side.

I have the complete gasket set, so thought that I might as well do the whole lot while i'm at it....What the best way to do it and what tools do I require??

Thanks Guys

The only tools vaguely out of the ordinary would be a torque wrench & a torx socket for the head bolts. You might want to make a camshaft locking tool as well.

Hmm, iv got a bit of oil on one of my plugs too but it looked to clean to have gone round the engine. Thought it had run into it when someone was messy at pouring. Dam....might have to replace the gaskets.
