Hi, Need your help guys please.
i'm writing from Sydney Australia.
Don't know much about e30s but very eager to buy one.
A guy is selling his 1989 325i which he bought in the UK and shipped to Aust. He has advertised it as a genuine Mtechnic saying its the same as the 325is in Aust, and that it is just badged differently because it's a euro model. i'm under the impression that the 325is has Msport suspension & steering, right? which is what i want.
My question is, does the mtechnic have that?
Is there difference between mtechnic and motorsport? if so what?
It's immaculate throughout and has a genuine 73000miles.
but i don't want to be ripped of thinking i'm buying the sports version when it's not.
Please Help asap. thanks heaps

hello m8,no expert but its obviously not m3,so only leaves a sport.
which has.

mtek bodykit.
lsd.
black headlining.
close ratio gearbox.

other than that 325 spec.

does the car say 325i sport. because a sport is registered as this.other than that .
325i
325se
325 touring
325 ix

i don't know about the suspension because i haven't really had a look at them.
Also don't know if it's a short ratio gearbox (what's that?)
and it doesn't have headlamp wash wipe

but it does have on board computer
m badge on front grill
m badge steering wheel and gear knob
mtech body kit with decklid spoiler
rear centre arm rest

what also worries me is he said he put new original exhaust and they are double barrelled but they're angled a bit to the left, and not straight like the others i've seen here. i've read here that the normal 325i had angled exhausts, is that right?

overall what do you think? real 325i mtech?

Mate, there isn't a 325i mtechnic - the mtech parts are optional extras, you either have a sport which has the afforementioned parts fitted as standard, or you have a 325i which has some optional extras, such as the bits you have mentioned (gearknob, s/wheel, kit etc)

A 325i motorsport is a special edition convertible.

It looks lovely!!

The headlining as I said in the PM should be black, all the way from the sunroof visors, back to the rear window, all the material above your head.

Doesn't the aussie plate come off so you can give us the british reg number?

almost $16k aussie
it'd might sound alot to what you guys would pay (seems so much cheaper in uk)
and although i haven't been looking long i've gathered that good 325i sport down under are not as common as the uk.
so i'm not getting it as cheap as some others on the market, but i'm happy to pay for quality and originality.
anyways i'm not too fussed about the money, i'm about to get a pretty nice 325i sport! yee haaa!

Yes, 6.5k GBP does seem a lot, but they do fetch that sometimes here too.
