CSL

Thanks for the picys and info, the elbow looks like plastic unfortunately :(

I might get one and see if it's flexible enough, on the M3 where the elbow joins the plenum the oval hole is horizontal, how i want to use it the oval opening of the elbow will be virtical.

Only slightly ovalised, and if its anything like the elbow on my S14, its not that flexible. Simply because its a fairly tight fit over the outlet. So as long as the overall circumference is the same it will probably fit.

Have you considered a Samco elbow?

I was trying to find some thing with an OEM look and the sizes of both ends of the elbow are different, just under 4 inches one side and 4 1/2 inches the other end.

I could just get a 5 inch samco but it wouldn't be a good fit, they don't do a 4 1/2 inch size unfortunately :(

I've just spent ages going through the etk looking for posible solutions but it's only the E46 M3 part thats about the right size.

This is the 4 1/2 inch virtical oval

This is the other end, just under 4 inch but there might be a way to increase this a little if needs be

May be i should hunt the scrapies ?

That Inlet oval is quite severe. Im not convinced (going from the pics on this thread only) that it would fit. Or if it did, whether it would stay on.

Don't laugh, but have you considered somewhere like B&Q for a pipe. Something from the plumbing aisle may well be ideal. Lots of people that get rid of the AFM on M3's but want to retain the original airbox manufacture something like this.

Alternatively, could you not make an item in metal?

I don't mind the B+Q stuf so long as it looks tidy and does the job, shame it's the bank holiday as B+Q is going to be packed ! :)

Andy,

I've got one of those E46 M3 elbows in the garage somewhere. I bought it when I was doing my conversion to see if it would give me more clearance - it didn't

It's a while since I looked at it, but from memory it's more plasticy than rubbery, but it does have some flex in it.

Yours for the price of postage :D

Cheers,

Ian.

Hi Andy,

Yes I do have a Paypal account. I'll PM the details.

To be honest, I'm not sure if the E46 M3 pipe will work as the oval is in the wrong direction, but you are welcome to try it :)

How about one of these from a 4 pot E36.

It has the correct oval, but not sure of the size.

Cheers,

Ian.

Will a fiver be enough for the postage ?

If so can you PM me your details ?

I think it will be worth trying the E46 M3 part, may be with a little heat it might work ?

Shame about that 4 pot E36 part as it's to small i guess going by the size of the hose clips.

Thanks a lot for your help :thumb:

Are you going to any of the meets coming up as i still havn't met you or had a chance to see your beasty in the flesh ? :)

Andy,

I suspect a fiver will more than cover it. Hold off until I get it packaged up and see how heavy it is. I'll let you know on Wedneday how much it will be.

I'm planning on being at Santa Pod on the 23rd of September if you are going.

Cheers,

Ian.

Oops, sent the dosh after i got your pm but before i read your reply on here, your giving me the part which is very kind so i'm not bothered about a couple of quid change.

I should be going to the pod, i just hope i don't have to line up next to you on the strip because i'd get whooped ! :)

Cheers
