no i have not scored with naomi crawford - although if she was not so moody i would be interested - just bought an e36 m3 evo 4 door saloon in cosmos black (for work yawn - explained to girlfriend that i needed a nice discreet saloon)- see here - http://www.revolutioncars.co.uk/bmw_m3.htm
- without spoiler for stealth! not collecting car untill next week - was a bit hungover on test drive - did not go over 5k - hoping the final rpms will deliver the performance i have been reading about

got to be honest - drove my my e30 2.7 trackcar there - which will have an eaton m90 blower from a db7 in next month - and at low rpm the m3 left me underwhelmed - however i'll endeavour to see whether it reaches the limiter in 6th on the way home when i collect next week - on private roads of course - NOT the m25

looking forward to running what for me will be a modern car!

Yeah they really wake up over 5k, though it should have been pretty blimin fast under 5k anyway

If you're going turn to the e36 then it might as well be the m3, thats what I say!
Cheers,
Robin

boys

i have bought the car for the primary reason of needing a stealth sensible car for work - the cars i currently own are:

mk2 1300 golf with 4 speed box - with faded roof - given to me free - on the motorway 3rd gear top speed
is 70 mph so when someone pulls out in front of you at 70 mph - you are f***ed for at least half a mile
before you have enough grunt in 4th to pass

ebay £2k merc 300te - love it BUT girlfriend uses it as she cannot drive manual and i never get to drive it apart from taking dog to heath

caterham 7 with cosworth bdg - 520kg's + 280 bhp - ****ing fast BUT useless as a roadcar - currently having engine rebuilt
see pic here
Image

of it in rather exotic company as it is going through another engine rebuild

beloved e30 trackcar - which has cobra monaco seats - have fallen off horse too many times to find it comfortable enough to drive it for than an hour

i have explained to GF that the e36 is a nice sensible saloon which i NEED for work - she does not know what an m3 is - but she will when organises
insurance for me next week! lol

Caterham, you lucky bugger!

e36 m3 evo isnt all that practical running cost wise though, esp if you do a lot of mileage, though if you can afford all those cars you should be ok to run one! :P
Cheers,
Robin

re:"wheres that being done - DK "
terry hoyle - he's built more cosworth bdg's than anyone else - used to build all the works escort lumps years ago - clark/mikkola/vatanen etc for you oldies - swapping the engine work for some web stuff

does look like dk though! - used to work for them years ago

re:"e36 m3 evo isnt all that practical running cost wise though, esp if you do a lot of mileage, though if you can afford all those cars you should be ok to run one! "

i am an old git at 36 compared to most of you lot so having a few toys is no biggie - do not really know anything about e36's and do not do mega mileage - car has full bmw history + new vanos 18k miles ago so hoping it should be ok + fuel economy should be in a different league to my e30 which has big injectors etc etc

still gonna remain loyal to the e30 though - have a blower gathering dust in the garage which i MUST fit in the next few months

Well done Ross !

good choice of weapon as discussed the other day, new Vanos is a good call but make sure the filter screen is changed every service for longevity, the oilways in the unit are tiny and dont need much encouragement to get growly.

 But still wrong

Anyone else spot the Lambourghini LM under a tarp in that photo, such an 80's brute, derad to have to put petrol in it!
E36 m3's are cool especially when they look like the average council chariot edirty6.

Ross - nice looking car - I had an M3 Evo - it's all about revs with these cars - I'm sure you won't be disappointed!

mark - good thats what i want to hear - did not really rev it - had dreadful hangover so am hoping it will keep up with merc sprinters on the motorway when it is given a caning - lol

@widge - lambo lm has just had it's 7 litre v12 rebuilt - makes your usual chelsea tractor look like a toy!

@ant - well mate i have agreed with GF that this is purely a work car - no mods - so you better make sure that your new biz will slum it and work with edirty sixes winkeye
