Hi guys. Ive come across this 323 okay, and on the rocker cover where you have the raised slats that run down the rocker covers length on the m20, there is a flat diagonal strip on the rocker on the end nearest the bulkhead (above cylinder 6)

This flat diagonal panel is about 3inches long and about an inch high. At each end of this diagonal strip is a 3mm hole THROUGH the rocker cover itself, where I think a tuning company MAY have pressed their logo/plaque into the rocker cover.

My questions are thus....

1) does anyone have the foggiest idea what im jibbering on about?
2) does anyone have any idea if this is from a specialist tuning company (hartge/alpina/hamman etc)
3)does anyone have any pictures of a rocker cover of similar description?

i understand my above post sounds like ive drunk too much coffee, but if someone can make sense of it, please post up and help me out. much appiciated people!

Scott

Iain, you're a legend.

Right, you see the flat panel that your strut brace obscures on the rocker cover.... its one of them...but at an angle.

Is it flat for a reason, or is it there to have a badge stuffed into it?

I can certainly say that it DOES NOT have a badge in or on it but quite why it is there is a good question. I will do some more checking and see if I can get an answer for you

i've never seen or heard of this, hartge/racing dynamics ones were cast by the same company. Alpina just painted a standard cover. So it could be some other firm then!

WINNER!

Its standard, thats okay. cheers Daz.
Do u see what i mean about the diagonal flat face above cylinder 5 on the rocker cover? (the bit with 2 holes drilled into it)

Looks like it was meant for a plaque or something.

Cheers guys. Thats my question sort of answered. Cheers Daz.

Looks to me that it's for some sort of bracket to bolt onto that maybe was only specific to certain models. i.e. a bracket for holding the cable for cruise control or something. Not too clued up on older models.
