Parked my car for a couple of hours in a pay and display just off Southsea Common yeterday afternoon. Came back to find it unlocked and the lock barrel hanging out. Nothing taken as far as I can see and no other damage. Either the b**t***s got disturbed or scared off or the immobaliser did its job or maybe they saw me coming, who knows but I think I'm lucky I'm still driving it. Anyone and anybody in Southsea at the moment is now under suspicion even old ladies. Beware v. angry zoner on the warpath, grrrr :shoot1:

I can imagine you are a trifle annoyed. Sorry to hear mate, go for a de-lock on the repair!

Its very easy to get through the E30 lock, unless you have dead lock on then its a different story.

I had the same thing Monsport, they do it in stages, first get the door open then they leave only to come back later to do the Immobiliser then they leave to come back later and take the car.

Hi Andrew. I was wondering if it was something like that. Am just hoping that someone hasn't targeted my car. Being extra vigilant at the mo. Doesn't make for carefree sleep tho.

I know, get the car delocked and get a metal brace welded in so they cant get anythig down the side of the window.

monsport

sorry to hear your story - it sucks round here sometimes. spent 3 hours yesterday fitting a replacement aerial to my missus car as someone thought it would be funny to break it as they walked past - and you know how cold it was.... it's still not done and she's taken it to work taped up - stuck in the a-pillar it is.

also an ex parked her car by the common round the front of the queens hotel there and someone smashed the drivers door window and nicked her fags - there were only 2 left in the packet.

i never leave mine anywhere now without its disklok on, not even for a couple of minutes. it's a pain in the arse but a very visible deterrent.

still up for a meet?

Hi Paul,
Good to hear you. Likewise sorry to hear about the arial - that sort of mindless vandalism makes me mad. I think I was in that same car park opposite the Queens Hotel - I was in there taking wedding photos for someone. This is the first time I've had any trouble since I moved down from Bexley nearly 3 years ago so I guess I've been lucky. Like you, I always put on the visable crooklock, remove radio face and never leave anything in the car - I'm from London! But I was rushing to catch the bride arriving and did everything else but put the Crooklock on. Not that Crooklocks are great but they probably deter the casual thief.
It would be great to meet up sometime - I work for myself not far from you so have some flexibility during the day. Weekends are Ok too as long as the missus hasn't got it mapped out! Coffee shop on the front near the Pyramids maybe?

it sounds like you've been very very lucky. in the last 4 years me and missus have suffered something like 15 thefts/vandalisms from our vehicles in our road in southsea. i've given up counting now - and i budget for repairs. sad world.

the list includes: aerial broken (you know about) bonnet sat on, bonnet jumped on, drivers door window smashed, rear quarter panel dented, 2 tyres slashed, 2 motorcycle covers stolen, fruit superglued to paintwork (!!??) etc etc.
