Oh go on, not even a little clue what the trick is????? winkeye
Oh go on you know you want to. I promise I can keep a secret :wink:Go on send me a PM winkeye
Sounds like the sort of thing I would do, free!!!!
The best price really.
I've got a zone chip and a BBTB and I can say they are two of the best parts I have ever bought, have transformed the car, I think an M30 AFM is the next step.

OK, I'll give you a clue, most will have done this little mod already I hope.

The trick is related to air density, involves no wiring mods or anything like that.

1st prize goes too..........

Well it can't be fooling the ECU like those cheap chips that just make it over fuel, that's too crap for an Ant fix, it's not removing the water heating from the TB is it? Cos that would make the TB run at the same temp as the engine and the air would be less dense, etc etc...Oh I get it, a Bloody GREAT BIG TURBO That'll make the air denser winkeye

you got it, easy wasn't it

removing the hot plate feeds does reduce intake air temps and result in a cooler denser mix being drawn, I've tested this with an IAT in the intake runners, worth the 10 minutes tweaking all day long

Even with a massive interccoler you'd be hard pushed to get the intake temp on a turbo'd ride down to ambient, believe me I've tried

Wot cold start injector?

I thought so Ant, my BBTB came without the relevant pipes, so I'm sure that helped it make the car feel much faster! Good cheap mod. What's the disadvantage though? Takes longer to get up to operating temp? Bad idea presumibly if you live in siberia winkeye The germans you have to love them they cover every eventuality :D

TB MOD

1. Remove water pipes from TB.
2. Join Pipes with a suitable piece of non ferrous pipe of the correct diamiter with jubilee clips.
3. block holes on TB with bungs stolen from the chemistry block heald in with chewing gum or similar.
4. Never change gear till the red line is reached.

The pipe is about the size of one of those pipes that comes out of the throttle body....................

About the same size as the oil dip stick pipe, I just happened to have one to hand at the time and it got butchered, and I know it's not non ferrous, it has been replaced with a bit of aluminium tent pole.

Yeah i laughed, Her dad didnt.

Going back to the subject in hand.
1) the bungs, are they just to stop any crap getting into those holes? can i use wiring grommets?

2) id it important to get a thin walled connector? I have a box of Gates hose connectors at work but they are a little thick, is this going to cause any problems?

Use the hoze connectors they'll be fine.
And the holes don't really need bungine or anything. You can just unscrew the whole bit where the hoses go in and get rid of it.
I may stand corrected though as mine came ready done.

I wish I'd known about this a few years ago as I replaced all this stuff for new as it was leaking water.

I did this on my 318iS track car too... took out the water heated sandwich plate and re-routed all the water pipes to miss out loads of crap bends too, so it went straight back into the cylinder head. Easy enough job, but taking off the inlet manifold made it so much easier. I was replacing all the air pipes at the same time, so it made sense to kill two birds...

Oh, and I also fitted a BBTB, full stainless, K&N induction with cold air pipe and a chip at the same time. Difference was interesting! winkeye

For anyone considering this little mod Focus sell 10mm straight brass couplers (found in the plumbing section) for £1.79 and use a bit of old hose looped around to bung the holes on the TB :D

No prizes for guessing what I've just done winkeye
