They sure were. Imagine the Kudos your car would've had in 1984

Dave"drift"touring is selling a B plate at the mo. I think jonmsm still has an A plate 320i as well.
So I don't think you've got the oldest, but certainly one of the coolest

Oh no! That was the epitome of old skool cool as well. A clean, unmodified A plate. Damn
Still, your cab makes up for it I suppose
Are those headlights in your sig home-smoked by yourself? I'm really liking the black lights/grilles on red look, hard-as-nails. But I can't find any schmoked Hellas

Mine was henna red too! Great colour!dazleeds wrote:i have had a henna red 323 on a y

Shame it was terminally rusty... you couldn't tell to look at it though - all on the underside
& yep Zay - home smoked bosches! They take a fair bit of effort, but it's not difficult really... & they do look damn good even if I do say so myself! Still not sure about the black grill though - just thought I'd give it a try...

I've always disliked the idea of blacked out grilles as the grille is what identifies the car. However for the sake of scaring small children and nobody coming into your lane on the motorway I think it's worth sacrificing
Now you've done one set would you find doing a second one easier? I have a spare set of lights....if you're willing and able PM me what sort of money you're after. No pressure of course, if you don't have the time or it's too much hassle/stress worrying about whether you mess up the lights I understand entirely - that's the very reason why I'm not gonna try it myself
Only provisional though as I'm gonna try for another few weeks to find a set of smoked Hellas (which don't cost £300 second hand!)

Erm... I could do (was gonna do jimbob a set til he sold his car!), but it's pretty time consuming tbh
I'm sure someone on here was doing just that though? Quite reasonable prices too? It's really not difficult though - give it a go!
& you're right about the lane thing - people really do get out of your way!

I don't want to tell again the story of how.. it still sickens me to this day! :'(Ziggy wrote:Nah, my old one diedZayyan wrote: Dave"drift"touring is selling a B plate at the mo. I think jonmsm still has an A plate 320i as well.
That car was awesome (if not a bit holey floor wise) and it was indeed an A plate... and it is still technically alive as I never registered it scrap. I would loved to have kept that car on the road just because of its age but it just wasn't practile. There has to be other A plate e30's or earlier on the zone?!?!

I did have a Y plate 316 a few moons ago...
It came straight after an 1802 and immediately before an E28 525i and, as such, was terminally slow (for a BMW)

I had a 316i NPX803Y in 1986, Henna red, no extras at all, not even a sunroof. 1983 it was, and a very early build, wonder what happened to it? But at the time it was still a stunning car. it replaced a 1986 316i 4-door C65FTA which I bought new, then sold to help buy a house.
Ah..
Ah..
