Possibly going to look at a 316 that needs a clutch change, its a facelift 88 model, so i am presuming it is an m40 engine. Any one done one and like to give me an insight on how to work on 4 cylinder carb wrongness!

Has anyone got a clutch with some suitable meat on it, whilst i'm on the topic.

Oh no please don't tell me its an M10....because i'll really want to try and boost it then.lol. They love the boost apparently...anyhow i'm getting a little sidetracked :?

I thought all facelifts were m40, i am obviously an idiot :o

I can imagine its a fairly easy job with all that room, i hope so at least.

O/T---Tony do you have an engine crane?

I had a carbed M10 on an E plate aswell.
Not much difference to the clutch change, I did one on an M10i a couple of weeks ago with a jack and a couple of axle stands. Pretty easy to lift back onto the engine

My sig pic is of my first bmw it was a 316 carb M10 engine, there is loads of room under the bonnet so its all easy never did a clutch on one but i did loads of other stuff.

And yes the M10 block is one of the best 4 cylinders there is, they were used in formula one cars when they used to be allowed turbos on em.

Iv got a soft spot for the old M10, would like another one on twin carbs or something, it was much more fun to drive than any other car iv had u could just throw it around everywhere.

You dont see that many of em about now really!

How much you giving for that one?
