I've got an intermittent problem with the battery, abs and brake hydraulics lights. They normally come on when you put the key in the ignition and go out when the car is at idle. A couple of times recently they have only gone out when I engage DRIVE and the car moves off. Oil light seems to be ok.

Is there a common input here somewhere? I (carefully) cleaned the engine bay recently, I'm wondering if I knocked something, maybe it got wet.

Also, BMW instruction manual says brake lining wear light should come on when ignition key is turned but my experience is that it only comes on when the pads actually wear down.

Any help please?

Keep it in neutral and rev the engine a bit they should go out.
If the brake wear indicator light doesn't come on with the others when the ignition is first switched on then the bulbs blown or has been removed which could be due to another problem with the rear of the instrument cluster.

Yep they do go out, I just wondered why the delay? They always used to go out immediately. Do you know what tells the cluster that the engine is at idle and the lights can go out?
